In addition to revealing the new release date for the upcoming Venom 3 film, Sony also revealed its final title. A title which clearly amused Internet users, who could not help but draw the parallel with this very popular Netflix series.
After Marvel and DC, it was Sony who decided to invest in the world of superheroes, thus giving birth to Sony’s Spider-Man Universe (SSU), also known as SonyVerse. A new cinematic universe launched in 2018 with the film Venom, the franchise then being based on several characters from the Marvel universe more or less linked to Spider-Man.
And if Sony’s Spider-Verse animated films have been a huge success with spectators, this is unfortunately not the case for the SSU feature films. We will think in particular of the reception received by Venom and its 2021 sequel, but also that reserved for Morbius (2022). Even more recently, it was Madame Web, released last month, which also failed to reverse the trend, receiving generally negative reviews from the press and the public.
But the Japanese multinational seems to want to give Tom Hardy’s Venom one last chance, since the film saga will be entitled to a third part. A new opus which would apparently be the last if we rely on the new title revealed by Sony.
New Venom 3 title draws mockery from basketball fans
The third feature film in the Venom franchise has therefore revealed its definitive title, called Venom: The Last Dance. A title which did not fail to provoke a reaction from NBA fans on social networks, who could not help but make the comparison with The Last Dance, the sports documentary mini-series which looked back on the 1997 season -1998 of the Chicago Bulls and its star Michael Jordan, released in 2020 on Netflix.

We also learn that the release date of the project, which was previously scheduled for next November, has finally been brought forward to October 25, 2024 in the United States. Venom: The Last Dance is directed by Kelly Marcel, with Tom Hardy who will return to his role as Eddie Brock, alongside Juno Temple, Clark Backo and Chiwetel Ejiofor.
