Venom Takes a Jab at Marvel Fans in Savage Twitter Trend: “Is Your Profile Picture a Furry?”

Venom has unleashed a wave of humor on social media as a new hilarious trend on X (formerly Twitter) showcases the Marvel anti-hero’s brutal roasts directed at fans online.

The Tom Hardy-led era of Venom might be concluding with the release of the third and seemingly final film, The Last Dance, hitting theaters on October 25. Although the character may not disappear from Sony’s Marvel universe just yet, an appearance in the MCU could still be a possibility in the future. For now, Venom is approaching the completion of his own trilogy.

To make a memorable exit, Venom’s social media team has been given the go-ahead to join one of the trendiest and funniest campaigns online. To announce the sale of tickets for Venom: The Last Dance, the character’s X account has gone rogue, playfully roasting fans for their photos, bios, and any other details it finds amusing enough for a quick insult.

“I’m back, baby,” the account tweeted on October 1, embodying the persona of Venom. “Tickets are on sale, and I’m celebrating with a roast.” Within hours, the #VenomRoastMe trend exploded in popularity.

Starting off on a fairly light note, Venom issued some mild jabs like telling fans to get some sunlight or clean their dirty mirrors. However, things escalated quickly, and the humor turned up a notch on X.

One tweet using the trending hashtag featured an adult posting a childhood picture of themselves dressed as Spider-Man—a common nostalgia moment for many. Venom humorously asked, “Was this the last time you were happy?”

“It’s giving theater kid that didn’t quite get the part,” quipped another response, targeting yet another fan’s Spidey costume photo.

Another roast hit a self-proclaimed influencer with a small follower count. Venom retorted, “Never met an ‘influencer’ with 1,000 followers before.”

The mocking didn’t stop there; Venom continued to drag more social media platforms into the banter. “I know your Reddit feed is crazy,” commented one fan, while another was told, “Looks like you make Letterboxd your entire personality.”

However, the standout roast targeted a user with a unique profile picture, racking up over 40,000 likes as Venom tweeted, “Your profile pic is literally a furry…”

With the immense attention generated by that single tweet—as well as numerous others—the marketing team has certainly succeeded in promoting ticket sales for Venom: The Last Dance. Mission accomplished!
