Do Han-se has recently openly expressed his opinions on idol groups’ participation in music shows through a fan communication platform.
According to him, while music shows are beneficial, they do not generate significant profits. The promotional value of appearing on music shows has decreased for second-generation seniors compared to the past. The cost of promoting for a week on these shows is 10 million won, but the appearance fee is only 50,000 won.
He explained that in order to successfully make a comeback, it was important to have a cool and polished appearance. This involved organizing the stage setup, styling, providing meals, snacks, drinks, and covering other expenses, which totaled to 20 million won.
He stressed that all of the debt was accumulated by idols.
In addition, he expressed his admiration for K-pop artists, acknowledging the intense competitiveness of their industry.
In response to fans’ requests for him to make an appearance on music shows, Do Han-se shared these circumstances, stating that “the majority of idols do not receive payment for their performances. Only those who are headlining at the top of the festival lineup are compensated. Most teams, except for a few well-known ones, are actually accumulating debt until their contracts expire.”
“He emphasized that completing the full 7-year contract or disbanding after earning money were both considered successful outcomes. Any debt accrued during the group’s activities would not need to be repaid once the contract ended, allowing for a clean and debt-free conclusion.”
Netizens have different reactions and opinions about this matter.
After listening to Do Han-se’s thorough explanation, many expressed their gratitude, saying, “Thank you for continuing to promote even while facing financial difficulties,””It’s unfortunate that you have to spend money to promote,””Perhaps it would be better to not participate in music shows if the promotions are not effective,””There must be valid reasons why certain idols do not appear on music shows,”and “Idols must be facing numerous concerns in the current industry climate.”
However, there are also those who are taken aback by his extremely realistic statements. A few individuals even remarked, “Given his unfiltered honesty, it may be difficult to invite him to appear on music shows,”and “Shouldn’t idols make appearances on music shows for their fans?”Another added, “It’s a pity that there won’t be any opportunities to create memories with fans on stage.”It is undeniable that music shows serve as a way to please fans.
In 2016, Do Han-se made his debut with VICTON. However, after his contract expired in April of last year, he left his agency. Since then, he has been pursuing a solo career under his current agency, The Dial Music.
