The online circulation of a video featuring NewJeans members Hanni and Minji arguing has become extremely popular.
On May 7, the oldest member of NewJeans, Minji, celebrated her 20th birthday. To mark the occasion, the entire group held a live stream on their fan communication platform Phoning, where they could interact with their fans.
Amidst the stream, an amusing yet worrisome incident occurred between Minji and Hanni that caught the interest of netizens. While engaging with their fans and enjoying themselves, Minji tried to breathe in helium from a balloon in order to make her voice sound higher, resembling that of a chipmunk.
Despite Minji’s insistence and reminder that it was her birthday, Hanni was adamant about stopping her, saying, “No, Kim Minji, let it go.”

It was soon uncovered that Hanni’s strictness stemmed from her genuine concern for Minji. She had expressed, “Okay, but if you start feeling dizzy, I won’t hesitate to intervene.”
The remaining members observed as the two “bickered,”assuming the roles of commentators during this playful argument. This charming interaction rapidly gained attention on social media.
On TikTok and X (previously known as Twitter), the video of Hanni preventing Minji from inhaling helium received approximately 3 million views. Bunnies were grateful for Hanni’s thoughtfulness, recognizing the potential health hazards of inhaling excessive amounts of helium.
