Viewers crying after finding out what $100 worth of UK groceries looks like

In a video that rapidly gained popularity on TikTok, viewers were amazed by the quantity of groceries that $100 can buy in the UK.

On June 18th, @lolcrusher shared a video showcasing the items she was able to purchase at Aldi for just $100.

“She explained, “At the current exchange rate, $100 is equivalent to around 70 pounds. I just finished my weekly grocery shopping at Aldi and spent 73 pounds. Let me show you what I bought.”She was converting American dollars to British pounds.

She subsequently directed the camera towards her kitchen counter, where all the items were neatly arranged.

“She pointed to the items in the fridge, which included chicken breast, sausages, ham, pepperoni, chicken wings, and a free range chicken. There were also yogurts, haloumi, smoothie, and milk. Additionally, she had bought coleslaw, hummus, olives, seafood sticks, and garlic bread.”

“I plan on making McDonald’s breakfast this Sunday,”she mentioned, gesturing towards a selection of pre-packaged egg and sausage muffin sandwiches. She also shared a variety of frozen foods, such as ice cream, hash browns, and Yorkshire puddings.”

Additionally, she stocked up on numerous essentials for the cupboard, such as rice, oil, noodles, tomato sauce, and spaghetti. We were also impressed by the abundance of breakfast items she had, which could easily serve as a full-fledged feast.

Despite this, she was still able to stay within her $100 budget and even scored a variety of bathroom essentials such as tissues, baby wipes, shampoo, conditioner, and face masks.

The TikTok video has now accumulated almost 8 million views, leaving viewers shocked by its content.

One person wrote, “Being a Canadian, I cried. I paid $450 for the same amount at the grocery store today.”

“Another person expressed that the meats themselves would cost the entire 100 dollars in the US, accompanied by a crying emoji.”

“Additionally, in Georgia, another person mentioned that the price for all of that at Aldi is still a minimum of $350.”

Some British customers also expressed confusion, stating that the woman’s shopping trip appeared to cost around £100-150, equivalent to $126.50-189.74.

Upon further investigation, it was revealed that the video, which showcased remarkably low prices, was actually from 2021 as stated in one of the comments. The commenter clarified, “For those in the UK questioning the price, I came across this video on the official account and it was uploaded in 2021.”

Despite this, a significant number of commenters continued to assert that the price mentioned in the video remained applicable to their current shopping experience, stating: “To me, this appears to be around £80.”

“Another person agreed, stating that they typically spend around £50 per week at Aldi for their family of three, which also covers the cost of packed lunches.”

A different customer gained popularity on TikTok when they stumbled upon an incredible bargain at IKEA.
