In a recent interview with Anime Corner, Yukimura disclosed that as of October 18, 2024, only a handful of chapters remain to conclude Vinland Saga. He shared, “I have reached this point as planned; however, moving forward, I am uncertain about how it will all end. Regardless, I’m committed to delivering my best work.”

Thoughts on the Message Behind the Story

The interviewer probed Yukimura about the underlying messages within the manga, particularly regarding war and peace. He expressed his hope, stating, “Two decades ago, someone advised me that we should reflect on the topic of war during times of peace, as it’s too late to think about it once conflict arises. I wish for readers to contemplate war today and aspire for peace.” His desire is that the essence of his work resonates widely and contributes positively to the global conversation.

A Look Back at the Series’ Structure

Yukimura previously outlined that Vinland Saga is organized into four significant arcs: the war arc, the slave arc, the eastern expedition arc, and the final arc which commenced in December 2019. He noted on Twitter that this final segment is projected to be substantial, encompassing over 1,000 pages and more than 50 chapters, with its completion potentially spanning several years if uninterrupted. The final part currently contains 48 chapters, with a few more anticipated before the concluding curtain falls.

Fans can find Vinland Saga published monthly, with English translations available in omnibus editions through Kodansha Comics. Digital versions are accessible via Viz, while physical copies can be ordered through major retailers like Amazon. Additionally, the manga’s rich narrative has been adapted into a popular anime, which consists of two seasons currently streaming on platforms such as Crunchyroll and Netflix.
