The incident involves a Polish content creator, Jula Vadini, who felt a surge of anxiety after flight attendants distributed candles moments before severe turbulence struck.

Amid the turbulence, her initial reaction was to question, “Are we dying?” as the situation escalated and flight attendants started issuing instructions in Spanish — a language Vadini struggles to understand. This only compounded her anxiety, making her hyper-aware of all the sounds around her.

The Revelation: The True Purpose of the Candle

Upon landing safely, Vadini learned the true significance of the candles. Initially, she believed they were meant to offer good luck or serve as tools for prayer in the event of a crash. In a twist of fate, she discovered that, on December 7th, Colombians celebrate the Immaculate Conception Eve, also known as Little Candles Day—a cherished tradition where each candle represents a wish.

Following this insightful revelation, Vadini took to her Instagram to inform her followers: “It turns out this is a Colombian tradition on December 7! One candle = one wish!! How wholesome.”

Despite the initial misconception, many TikTok users resonated with her experience, offering support and acknowledging that they too would have reacted in confusion when presented with a candle during turbulence.
