The unexpected reveal of Avengers: Doomsday suggests that the MCU has moved on from Kang the Conqueror, yet the purported script for The Kang Dynasty has recently surfaced online.
After Jonathan Majors had a string of convictions for domestic abuse, Marvel Studios terminated his contract and shifted their focus away from the Kang the Conqueror storyline. Rumor has it that Majors had a contractual clause stating that only he could portray Kang, who was set to play a significant role in the upcoming Avengers film, The Kang Dynasty.
Marvel has made the decision to focus on a story centered around Doctor Doom in their upcoming film, Avengers: Doomsday. This choice seamlessly connects to the highly anticipated releases of The Fantastic Four: First Steps and the 2026 Avengers movie, Secret Wars.
Despite the Kang Dynasty arc not being included, fans are still curious about what could have been. Recently, user ExiledScoop3r (formerly known as Twitter) shared a series of posts that have now gone viral, claiming to have access to the script and revealing supposed details. However, not everyone is convinced by these claims.
Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror is seemingly done for good in the MCU.
According to ExiledScoop3r, the Kang Dynasty was intended to serve as a prequel to Quantumania, with a specific focus on that version of Kang. In this storyline, the ruler of a highly advanced society, along with his wife and unborn son, would be killed by an invasion from the Council of Kangs.
Kang embarked on a journey to conquer other universes in order to prevent his variants from annihilating them. As a result, he found himself exiled in the Quantum Realm. The movie would have unveiled that following Quantumania, Kang was marooned in a region known as The Beyond Zone, where he was compelled to battle an army of his own clones.
The plot, shared on Reddit and X, has been widely spread. Yet, many fans are skeptical of its authenticity. They have pointed out that the plot, credited to original Kang Dynasty writers Michael Waldron and Jeff Loveness by ExiledScoop3r, appears to be copied directly from Rick and Morty without any credible source.
According to a user on Reddit, one episode in each season of Rick & Morty focuses on the Citadel of Ricks, telling the story of its rise and fall and the conflict between Prime Rick and the Citadel.
“The plot of R&M’s council of Ricks was inspired by the Fantastic 4, following a similar storyline to Kang’s in the previous story.”
Despite its cancellation, Marvel Studios has not yet released any details about the script for the Kang Dynasty. The most recent update was in November 2023, when it was announced that Waldron would take over as head writer, replacing Jeff Loveness, who was originally set to write for Quantumania.
Around the same time that Waldron was hired, rumors began circulating that the MCU would no longer prioritize Kang. According to reports, Loveness was let go due to his strong connection to the Kang storyline in Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania, which ultimately did not meet expectations at the box office.
It appears that Kang the Conqueror is no longer a part of the MCU, as Robert Downey Jr. is set to reprise his role as Doctor Doom. While there may be some insight into the plot of The Kang Dynasty in the future, it is doubtful that it will closely resemble a storyline from Rick and Morty.
The upcoming MCU film, Captain America: Brave New World, is set to release in 2025. In the meantime, you can learn more about the possible introduction of The Fantastic Four, a mutant on par with Thanos, or find the top streaming option for a Punisher movie.
