This video was posted by Carmela, known on TikTok as its.carmelajoy. In the video, her boyfriend explains the optimal loading techniques to maximize dishwasher efficiency.

“Cups go on the side. Cups don’t go in or on top of the spikes,”he begins, emphasizing, “You want as much water flow as possible.”

He further explains his preferred method by placing smaller bowls in the top middle section and larger bowls at the back of the bottom rack. Lastly, he demonstrates that plates should be positioned back to back towards the front of the lowest section of the dishwasher.

After outlining each step, her boyfriend lightheartedly acknowledged that he has “fixed this countless times”while laughing at the camera.

Many viewers praised Carmela’s boyfriend for his efficient loading technique. One user commented, “Apparently, I also do not know how to load a dishwasher,”while another added, “We love a gentle parenting moment.”

However, some users raised concerns regarding his approach. Notably, several commenters called him out for not placing the “cups in the spikes.”Additionally, many remarked that the way a dishwasher is used can vary significantly based on cultural backgrounds.

“I’m Hispanic and my mom washed everything by hand. I also don’t know how to properly load a dishwasher,”shared one user.

A second user joked, “My Vietnamese mom unplugged our dishwasher and used it as a filing cabinet.”
