Viral TikTok Video Captures Car Crashing Into Restaurant During Mukbang Filming

Several individuals were injured when a vehicle crashed into a restaurant, an incident captured on video by a TikTok user.

TikTok creator Kyra was in the middle of filming a mukbang at O’Charley’s Restaurant and Bar in Columbus, OH when the unexpected accident occurred.

The crash took place on Sunday, September 22. Fortunately, Kyra and her dining companions were unharmed, but her viral TikTok video captured debris flying around the restaurant.

“POV: you were recording a mukbang when a car crashes through the restaurant,” Kyra humorously captioned her clip, which has since garnered over 17 million views.

The shocked TikToker could be heard exclaiming “Oh my god!” and checking on other patrons to ensure they were okay. Viewers of the viral incident expressed their disbelief and mentioned how “traumatizing” the situation must have been.

Video footage indicated that around 6:30 PM, the driver crashed through the glass doors leading into the restaurant’s “to-go” area. Approximately one hour later, the damaged vehicle was towed away from the site.

According to Clint Lautenschleger, the COO of the chain restaurant, thirteen individuals sustained injuries. Jim Birswell, Battalion Chief of the Violet Township Fire Department, mentioned that some injuries were classified as “traumas,” but did not provide specific details.

In a statement following the alarming event, Lautenschleger expressed his relief regarding the safety of those affected by the crash.

“On Sunday evening at approximately 6:30 PM, a guest crashed into the O’Charley’s Restaurant located at 2272 Baltimore-Reynoldsburg Road. Thirteen individuals were transported to the hospital, and thankfully, none of the injuries were life-threatening,” he stated.

“The restaurant is currently closed and will stay that way until a thorough assessment of the damage is completed. We are incredibly thankful for the quick response from first responders and commend our associates for their calmness during the situation. We will continue to work closely with local authorities as they investigate and determine the next steps,” he added.

This isn’t the only car accident to gain viral attention this September. Earlier this month, a man in Brooklyn, NY, stole a tow truck and crashed into several vehicles while trying to escape. In the process, he not only damaged other cars but also caused significant damage to the tow truck itself, which was partially attached to another vehicle during the incident.
