VTuber angry over Twitch birthday ban for adult imagery

Fallenshadow, a popular VTuber, has spoken out against Twitch after being banned on their birthday for sharing ‘adult’ content.

Fallenshadow, a popular Twitch streamer, was eagerly anticipating her birthday broadcast, but was disappointed to discover that she had been banned from the platform on July 23, just as the festivities were about to begin.

The Vtuber shared in a post on X that she had originally intended to start her livestream at 3pm EST / 8pm BST, but she received an email from the Amazon-owned platform before she could begin.

Based on a screenshot of the email, Fallenshadow was notified by Twitch that they would face a seven-day ban.

The email stated that the cause for concern was the use of sexualized language and actions, as well as the depiction of a minor through the V-tuber avatar.

According to Twitch’s community guidelines, users are prohibited from promoting or participating in “Sexually explicit content or sexualized images of minors.”

While checking out Fallenshadow’s Twitch channel, a notification appears stating that the channel is temporarily unavailable for violating Twitch’s Community Guidelines or Terms of Service.

The news left Fallenshadow in shock, as she reminded everyone that this was not the news she had been anticipating on such a significant day.

Upon tagging Twitch Support, she insisted on receiving an explanation by stating, “This is not a sexual channel. Absolutely no sexual content should be posted. What is going on?”

On X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, users came together to show their support for the VTuber and voice their concerns about Twitch’s decision.

One exclaimed, “Wow, it’s already her birthday!”

“[Twitch], I implore you to have a human review this situation. Shadow is an adult woman and does not create sexual content.”expressed fellow VTuber Darlingstrawb in a plea.

“Another individual commented, “You better lift that sh*t right now,”in reference to the situation.”

It is unknown if the streamer has submitted an appeal to Twitch in order to reverse the suspension, as the platform does not typically provide comments on individual bans.

The ban was announced on the same day that Twitch introduced new chat features aimed at addressing sexual harassment and automatically deleting inappropriate comments.
