Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine Sequel Will Not Use Denuvo on PC

Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment have been increasing their promotional efforts for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 in anticipation of its release on September 9, 2024. The development team has been transparent about the game’s launch on both PC and consoles, and has even provided technical information in several FAQs. Additionally, Saber Interactive has announced that Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 will be available without any third-party DRM protection on PC.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 Does Not Have Denuvo

Saber Interactive has officially stated in their FAQ that Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 does not include any form of Denuvo DRM protection.

The FAQ includes the following question:

Q: Does the game use DRM software (ie. Denuvo…)?A: No.

Despite being a source of controversy for many developers and publishers, Denuvo, a mainstream tool used to protect titles from privacy, will be included in the game. This form of Steam DRM protection has not been intrusive in any way and while it has caused performance issues in some games in the past, it is now less common.

One concerning aspect is the daily activation limit, which may pose difficulties for outlets and creators wanting to test the title on multiple machines. While this is typically not a problem for regular consumers, it can still be frustrating to handle.

Fortunately, Space Marine 2 is not affected by these problems and is not susceptible to any potential Denuvo-related troubles, at least on the PC edition. Additionally, players have the option to play the campaign offline, however, the game does employ Easy Anti Cheat for all online features and multiplayer modes.

At the launch of Space Marine 2, PC players can anticipate the inclusion of the following features:

  • Co-op with crossplay support (outside of PvP modes)
  • Dedicated servers for Eternal War (PvP Mode)
  • Cross-save support
  • Text and voice chat
  • DLSS2 / FSR2 – DLSS3 / FSR3 are planned for post-launch

Despite being a demanding title, particularly on the CPU aspect, we remain optimistic that players will have ample options to tweak and optimize their systems for optimal performance on PC.
