Warzone Area 99 Map – Everything We Know So Far

The upcoming Call of Duty Next event is quickly approaching, providing players with their first glimpse at Black Ops 6 multiplayer and a fresh Warzone map known as Area 99.

The developers have begun to reveal details about the future of Warzone after the release of Black Ops 6, but much still remains unknown. Recently released promotional images for the upcoming Area 99 map provide a glimpse into what’s to come, but there are still many unanswered questions about the new Warzone map.

Warzone Area 99 Map Explained

The new battleground, Area 99, is set to be released alongside Black Ops 6 and is expected to be a Warzone map. While there is limited official information available at the moment, leaks have provided some insight into what players can anticipate.

On August 22, the Call of Duty Instagram account released the initial images of Area 99. The photos depict an industrial setting with numerous buildings and scattered sand on the ground.

Area 99: Resurgence Map

According to leaks, the upcoming Resurgence map for Warzone will be located in Area 99, as tweeted by HeyImAlaix on their Twitter account (https://x.com/HeyImAlaix/status/1826670970687623483).

Numerous sources, including HeyImAlaix and TheGhostOfHope on Twitter, have labeled Arena 99 as a Resurgence map. Initially, it was speculated that a revamped Verdansk would be introduced with Black Ops 6, but recent leaks have revealed that the beloved large map will make a comeback later in the game’s live service period.

When is Area 99 coming to Warzone?

According to leaks, Area 99 will be released simultaneously with the launch of Black Ops 6 Season 1. Although there is currently no confirmed date for the first live service season, it is rumored that the new Warzone map will be available at the beginning of the season.

According to HeyImAlaix, Area 99 is set to take the place of Rebirth Island when BO6 Season 1 begins, while Fortune’s Keep will continue to be included in the Resurgence rotation.

Developers

It can be inferred from the phrasing on the Area 99 promotional image for CoD Next that Treyarch was responsible for creating the new map. The words “new map premiere with Treyarch”were used by Call of Duty to announce that the lead studio behind Black Ops 6 also led the development of the new Warzone map.

On August 28 at CoD Next, we will receive the complete details. It is probable that Raven has contributed to the map in some capacity, as the Warzone promo image includes the phrase “game features deep dive with Raven.”
