Warzone Avalon Map: Release Date Leaks, Comprehensive Flyover & All Points of Interest (POIs)

As we approach the spring release of Verdansk in Warzone, the gaming community is buzzing with anticipation regarding the much-talked-about Avalon map. This excitement is amplified by the fact that for the first time in the series, the latest installment of Call of Duty has not birthed a brand-new large-scale Warzone map. Instead, the game launched with existing landscapes, as seen with the Area 99 Resurgence map in Season 1.

While players are accustomed to receiving fresh Battle Royale maps with each new game release, Black Ops 6 has deviated from this trend. The return of Verdansk in the upcoming season raises questions, particularly as the Avalon map sits in the wings, appearing fully developed yet currently unplayable in Warzone.

Introducing Avalon: The Upcoming Warzone Map

Avalon is poised to be a significant addition to the Call of Duty universe. Situated in a fictional location along the Mediterranean coast of southern France, Avalon features prominently in various multiplayer settings, including the Citadelle des Morts Zombies map from Season 1 Reloaded. It’s anticipated that Avalon will become the central Battle Royale map in the near future.

Below is a list of the multiplayer maps that are part of the Avalon experience:

  • Extraction
  • Hacienda
  • Heirloom
  • Lowtown
  • Protocol
  • Racket
  • Red Card
  • Skyline
  • Stakeout

Interestingly, while Citadelle des Morts resides within the Avalon domain, it will not appear on the Warzone map.

Anticipated Arrival of Avalon

Expectations are that Avalon will launch in late 2025, coinciding with the next installment of Call of Duty. Although specific details remain scarce, sources like Insider Gaming have indicated that Avalon will follow Verdansk’s return in the Spring of the same year.

However, it’s important to note that Avalon could potentially not make its way into Warzone, despite its apparent readiness. The gaming industry has seen other large-scale maps, such as the Cold War’s Ural Mountains and the Modern Warfare 2’s Las Almas, become unused despite being partially developed.

For instance, many players assumed that Ural Mountains, which featured different gameplay modes, would eventually transition into Warzone. Although the map was explored extensively by leakers, it appears to have been repurposed for a “Blackout 2.0” concept that ultimately fizzled out.

Similarly, Las Almas—a fictional setting from the 2022 Modern Warfare 2 campaign—was expected to follow a path to Warzone but failed to do so. Instead, players witnessed the introduction of Urzikstan, which bore striking similarities to the Las Almas layout, particularly in terms of coastal topography.

Exploring Avalon: A Sneak Peek

Players eager to explore Avalon before its official release can take advantage of Black Ops 6’s Theater Mode, available on the Lowtown map. This feature allows a rudimentary flyover of Avalon, revealing points of interest (POIs) such as Extraction, Hacienda, and Skyline, albeit in an unrendered state.

Warzone content creator IceManIsaac has showcased a comprehensive flyover of Avalon, which you can view here.

In addition, Reddit user Dull-Caterpillar3153 has shared an annotated top-down view of the Avalon map, labeling major POIs to provide further insights:

Players can expect Avalon to be a water-rich environment, characterized by an expansive river and numerous islands. Its vibrant aesthetics suggest frequent use of vehicles, particularly boats, as players traverse the map.

Although it appears that Avalon may coincide with the anticipated Call of Duty 2025 release, many questions remain. Leaks suggest the next title will be a sequel to Black Ops 2, set in 2035, introducing mechanics such as wall jumps. However, the identity of the developing studio remains a mystery.
