The announcement made by Warzone expert Metaphor about the alleged changes to the KAR98K in Modern Warfare 3 Season 4 Reloaded has divided Call of Duty fans.
The KAR98K is without a doubt one of the most iconic weapons in Warzone, known as the battle royale’s signature weapon. It dominated the early days of Modern Warfare and Verdansk, and proved to be a formidable force in Caldera as well.
The rifle was absent from Call of Duty for a period of time between releases, but it was reintroduced in Season 4 of Modern Warfare 3. It has quickly regained its popularity among players in Multiplayer and Warzone, but the developers are already planning to nerf it.
Season 4 Reloaded will bring about a nerf that will affect the KAR, as stated by Warzone specialist Metaphor on his YouTube channel. The changes will include adjustments to aim assist, damage dealt to various body parts, bullet velocity, and fire rate.
The YouTuber mentioned that they have heard about the upcoming nerf for the fire rate, velocity, aim assist, and damage range of the gun. They expressed concern that this will significantly impact its performance. However, they also stated that they support the decision to nerf the gun.
Without hesitation, players were eager to share their own opinions, and the general agreement was that the meta could use some refreshing – particularly in regards to snipers.
One fan expressed their opinion on the nerfs, stating that while some were acceptable, they couldn’t understand why the developers were so insistent on keeping the other snipers underpowered. Another fan, who plays with a keyboard and mouse, shared their excitement over the changes. They didn’t see it as a major nerf, especially since they primarily play the resurgence mode. They saw it as a challenge to improve their accuracy.
“I don’t think I can return to using a regular sniper,”one player responded. “I simply desire a more diverse meta. While the KAR is enjoyable, it is also overpowered. Everyone, including myself, is using the kar98+Superi combination. It’s becoming monotonous,”another player chimed in.
It remains to be seen if Metaphor’s assertion of a ‘leak’ will prove to be true when Season 4 Reloaded is released on June 26.
