Warzone Developers Crack Down on Cheaters in Latest Ban Wave

The leaderboards for Warzone Ranked Play have been consistently dominated by cheaters since its launch. However, the developers have taken action by utilizing their anti-cheat system to ban accounts that have been boosting, effectively cleansing the rankings.

The official Call of Duty Updates X page confirmed on July 31 that a ban had been issued for a group of accounts found to be cheating or boosting in Ranked matches.

According to an X post, the developers of RICOCHET Anti-Cheat have implemented fresh measures to identify and penalize cheaters and boosters in Ranked Play for Call of Duty: Warzone. As a result, TeamRICOCHET has taken action by banning accounts identified in this crackdown and clearing the leaderboards.

Despite the intention for the leaderboards of the competitive mode to showcase the top players worldwide, they were frequently populated by accounts that were not playing fairly.

Their absurdly high SR gains or unattainable win record were dead giveaways, as they appeared to have won countless matches with minimal losses.

There are multiple methods that could have been employed by these players to attain such a high rank in Warzone Ranked Play. One possible approach is through the use of software such as wall hacks, which can provide an unfair advantage over other players in the lobby and significantly increase the chances of winning.

Another method is utilizing boosting lobbies, where matches are manipulated to be filled with bots instead of actual players. These artificial opponents gather in one area and do not put up a fight, ensuring an easy victory and a significant increase in SR, resulting in absurdly inflated rankings.

In addition to the problem in Ranked Play mode, cheating is also a major issue in MW3’s multiplayer. However, the developers have reassured players that they are actively addressing the issue by implementing a set of detections specifically targeting cheaters in #MW3 Multiplayer.

Although these bans and purging of the leaderboards may not completely resolve the issue, they are a positive step towards addressing it. It is possible that the issue could resurface in the future, but these actions are a move in the right direction.

The developers have been actively addressing cheaters, as evidenced by their legal victory against EngineOwning and the subsequent closure of two other cheating providers.
