Warzone Devs Address Increase in Cheating Following MW3 Game Pass Launch

After the release of MW3 on Xbox Game Pass, many players noticed a significant surge in cheaters in both multiplayer and Warzone. In response to the growing problem and concerns about hackers being more difficult to detect, the developers have addressed the issue.

After the game was released on the subscription service on July 24, numerous fans promptly observed an increase in the use of banned software by players seeking an unfair advantage. As a result, many began to question the effectiveness of Activision’s RICOCHET Anti-Cheat software.

The team has announced that a problem with the system was discovered and subsequently resolved. In a post on X, they stated: “Over the weekend, RICOCHET Anti-Cheat addressed a detection system issue that led to a surge in reports of cheating.”

The release of MW3 on Game Pass has also made it more difficult to identify cheaters in the game. This is due to the fact that PC players are required to use the Xbox App for Windows, resulting in their in-game presence being displayed as Xbox users instead of PC players.

Fortunately, Activision also made it clear in the same announcement that although it may be more difficult for players in the game to identify cheaters, the anti-cheat system is still capable of detecting them.

“According to the developers, #TeamRICHOCHET has the capability to identify the platform of every user, regardless of their in-game appearance. If you believe a player in your lobby is cheating, it is advised to file an in-game report for further examination, regardless of their platform.”

Generally, hacking is more prevalent on PC platforms due to the ease of purchasing and installing software compared to consoles such as PlayStation and Xbox. Therefore, players frequently utilize the opposing platform to determine whether or not to report suspicious activity.

Fortunately, regardless of how they are presented in the game, RICOCHET has the ability to detect individuals who are using illicit software to gain an edge. Therefore, it is important for players to report any suspicious activity that may indicate cheating.

Activision concluded their statement by reiterating their dedication to addressing this issue, as evidenced by their recent lawsuit against EngineOwning and the subsequent shutdown of two additional providers.
