Warzone devs confirm long-awaited Battle Royale player count increase

Since its launch in December 2023, players of Battle Royale have been requesting for an increase in the player count for Warzone Urzikstan. Finally, the developers have officially announced that this change will be implemented.

The Battle Royale playlists in Warzone offer a unique style of gameplay compared to the Resurgence maps. The current BR map, Urzikstan, presents a challenging experience for 100 players, with the ultimate goal of being the last player or team standing.

Despite the launch of Urzikstan, BR fans have continued to request an increase in player count from the developers. Their goal is to have more action on the large BR map in Warzone, despite its slow pace.

On May 28, Raven Software announced on X that Warzone’s Battle Royale will now support up to 120 players. This feature is expected to be included in the upcoming Season 4 update for the game, set to be released on May 29, 2024.

After the release of Warzone Mobile, the problem of Urzikstan’s low player count became even more prominent. This was due to the fact that Verdansk, which was available on the mobile version with 120 players, caused PC and console players to demand the same number of players for their platforms. They argued that their systems were capable of handling even greater demands than a mobile device.

Initially, Warzone had 150 players in Verdansk. However, when Caldera was introduced, the number was decreased to 120. Then, with the addition of Al Mazrah, the player count was raised back to 150. However, over time, it was eventually decreased to only 100 players.

Despite the complaint, Urzikstan maintained its total player count of 100. In December 2023, the developers clarified that their decision to keep 100 players was based on critical metrics in order to create an optimal and enjoyable gaming experience.

Some of the factors that were considered were time-to-action, map size, the timing of new circles, match duration, the presence of red dots, and the inclusion of second chance mechanics.

Despite the player count explanation being given more than five months ago, the Warzone devs have now chosen to increase the number of players allowed in the Battle Royale playlists.
