The developers of Warzone have addressed player complaints regarding the game being “unplayable”as a result of numerous cheaters using the new Xbox Game Pass exploit.
Despite Warzone’s ongoing issues with cheaters over the past few years, the problem has escalated in recent times.
With the recent release of Modern Warfare 3 on Xbox Game Pass, PC players can now be identified in-game as console players by subscribing to Game Pass Ultimate. Some players who do not use cheats have expressed frustration as hackers have started using this tactic to evade detection by the RICOCHET anti-cheat system.
Despite this, numerous fans have labeled the game as “unplayable”in Season 5, causing them to refrain from playing Warzone until the problems have been completely resolved.
The RICOCHET anti-cheat team has been actively working to address and resolve any issues. Over the weekend, they were able to fix a problem with their detection system, resulting in a sudden increase in reports of cheaters. The developers clarified on July 29 that #TeamRICHOCHET is able to accurately detect the platform of all players, regardless of how they may appear in-game. This statement was made in response to a tweet from the RICOCHET team, which can be found at the link https://x.com/CODUpdates/status/1818096029117644901.
“To ensure a fair and enjoyable experience for all players, we urge you to report any suspected cheating in your lobby, regardless of platform. Our team is dedicated to addressing cheaters, shutting down cheat providers, and maintaining a fair playing field for our community.”

Some players immediately responded to the developers’ statement, requesting that the leaderboards in Ranked be cleared of any cheaters. “Could the top 250 cheaters be removed?”one player inquired. Another player added, “I implore you to thoroughly investigate the ranked leaderboards, as a large majority of players are blatantly hacking.”
Some inquired about the possibility of the game developers releasing an update that would remove the console symbol for PC players. They questioned whether there would be a game pass player fix that would prevent them from appearing to be playing on Xbox.
It is uncertain if the recent surge of cheaters will decrease as a result of this, and although players continue to demand further action, Activision has been successful in shutting down sellers of cheats.
