Raven Software, the developers of Warzone, have released a hotfix to weaken the power of C4 explosives in the battle royale game, as they were becoming dominant in the game’s meta.
Ever since its launch in 2020, C4 has been a popular choice in the Warzone meta. While it used to have an extremely long throwing range, it was later adjusted for newer versions of Warzone to have a more realistic range. Despite this change, C4 remains a formidable weapon.
After being banned from competitive play due to their overuse by professionals, Thermobaric Grenades were swiftly replaced by C4. Despite the change, C4 proved to be just as devastating, providing players with a perfect balance of user-friendliness and explosive strength to eliminate opposing teams.
In response to the latest developments, Raven released a hotfix during the early hours of June 19. This update officially confirmed a nerf to the C4 and included the following modifications:
- Throw velocity has been reduced by 15%
- Radius has been reduced to 7 meters, down from 8
- Outer radius damage has been reduced to 138, down from 155
🗒️ #Warzone We’ve shipped a minor update that includes the following changes to C4:• Throw velocity has been reduced by 15%.• Radius has been reduced to 7 meters, down from 8.• Outer radius damage has been reduced to 138, down from 155.

Despite not being a significant nerf, this adjustment should bring C4 closer to the level of other explosive equipment. Additionally, the decrease in outer radius damage should lessen the impact of collateral damage caused by direct C4 hits.
Even after this nerf, it is unlikely that C4s will be completely ineffective for those who have been using them previously. However, it may require firing a few extra bullets after the first explosion to take down opponents. Nevertheless, they will still prove to be useful against vehicles and in the final stages of the game when players are in close proximity to each other.
