In Season 5, Raven Software modified the dynamic gas mask overlay to alleviate players’ concerns about impaired vision while outside of the gas.
The return of the iconic Superstore location, Redeploy Drone Beacons, and weapon buffs and nerfs in Warzone Season 5 aim to shake up the battle royale’s meta.
Furthermore, the update addresses the issue with the gas mask overlay, which now fades in and out depending on your proximity to the gas. Before, players who equipped a gas mask were constantly hindered by the overlay that restricted their vision and showed cracks when damaged.
To address this problem, players would keep the mask in their inventory and only put it on when necessary. However, with the latest update, players no longer have to worry about the obstructive overlay and can keep the mask equipped at all times. This highly-requested quality of life improvement was met with celebration from players.

Despite their happiness with the arrival of the change, certain users raised concerns about the lengthy process it took to implement such a seemingly simple change.
“It’s absurd that it took them so long to make this change,”a player remarked.
JGOD, a popular Warzone content creator, shared the same opinion and also tweeted, “It may have taken four years and three months, but it has finally occurred in Warzone.”
Despite the lack of information, the unknown additions of Infinity War to Warzone in Black Ops 6 have sparked curiosity. Many players are eager to see if this quality of life improvement, along with others, will be incorporated into the upcoming battle royale.
“According to a second commenter, changes are gradually being incorporated as we transition into BO6 with the original inventory. They also mentioned a W change.”
Until the release of Black Ops 6 on October 25, players will be able to experience the gas mask update for the duration of this Warzone’s existence.
