Recent updates in Warzone have left players increasingly skeptical about the developers’ commitment to improving the popular battle royale game. Fans have voiced their concerns over the lack of significant changes or improvements following the weapon balancing update that was rolled out on December 10.
Before taking a holiday break, Raven Software assured players that enhancements concerning anti-cheat measures, performance, and gameplay mechanics would arrive shortly after the new year. The first update of January, released on January 3, did bring some tweaks, including a boost in mantling speed and enabling players to open doors while sprinting. However, the patch fell short of addressing vital issues related to cheating and overall game performance, resulting in numerous players and streamers stepping back from the game.
As dwindling player numbers continued to concern the community, many avid fans anticipated that the subsequent January 13 update would finally deliver the much-desired improvements. Unfortunately, that expectation remained unfulfilled.
The Underwhelming January 13 Update
The January 13 update, which some hoped would reinvigorate the game, introduced only a few minor adjustments:
- Resolved an issue causing freezing or crashing during loading screens.
- Corrected a bullet trajectory problem with the AMR Mod 4.
- Fixed a glitch in Resurgence where players would lose access to their field upgrades and killstreaks upon dying out of bounds.
- Addressed visibility issues with models for ammo boxes, self-revives, and throwing knives.
- Rectified a situation where players did not receive a death icon when taken out by the Red Light Green Light feature.
Warzone content creator Swagg expressed his disbelief on a live stream after reading through the patch notes, clearly indicating the community’s disappointment with the update’s scope.

The reaction from players has been overwhelmingly negative. One frustrated fan remarked, “Seems they don’t care about their game anymore.” Another added, “Don’t be surprised anymore, they ignore us while people keep pouring money into the game.”
On a somewhat positive note, the update did eliminate a frustrating glitch that led to ranked players being suspended after crashing. However, players affected by this issue were not compensated for the skill ratings they lost, which has not helped mend the community’s feelings towards the developers.
