Warzone players disappointed as Crossbow is “ineffective” once more following update

The recent June 11 update for Warzone included a significant nerf to the Crossbow, which had been capable of one-shot kills since the start of Season 4. However, players are disappointed to see the weapon revert back to its original state.

Warzone Season 4 brought about numerous weapon balancing adjustments, shaking up the meta and requiring players to adjust their playstyles. However, there was one unmentioned buff that gave the Crossbow the ability to take down enemies with just one shot when equipped with explosive ammunition.

The issue was promptly resolved in the June 11 update when the damage of the Blastcap 20″Bolts was reduced, ensuring that it would once again require at least two shots to defeat an enemy.

Despite the change, the Crossbow has not been well-received by players. Many believe that it has reverted back to its previous state of being nearly impossible to use, as seen in a post by Reddit user ‘fatesoffspring’ who expressed their frustration with the “useless”Crossbow.

“According to the OP, their preferred weapon in CoD has always been the Crossbow since its debut in BO1. They particularly enjoyed its performance in the first version of Warzone before it was nerfed. Although the weapon was recently restored to its original state, it was quickly removed again. The OP questions why the developers would remove it when it was not commonly used, while the Kar, used by 85% of players, remains in the game. This seems unfair and unreasonable.”

In addition, ‘SINISTERZL1’ created another thread expressing their disappointment about the nerf, showing that they were not the only ones affected.

Kinda sad they nerf the Crossbow after a week but I’m still going to use it! byu/SINISTERZL1 inCODWarzone

The decision to remove the one-shot capabilities from the Crossbow has sparked numerous responses from other Warzone players, who criticized the change and claimed that it diminishes the game’s meta.

One response stated that the weapon requires a lot of skill and has a high risk and reward factor. However, it was also noted that aim assist does not work effectively with this weapon at mid to long range, which could explain why some players do not want to use it. Another comment pointed out that the game’s developers seem to favor a specific playstyle and do not offer much variety.

Some individuals argued that they were “devastated”by the alteration and expressed that taking out enemies with one shot using explosive bolts was the most enjoyable experience they had in Warzone in a long time. They believed it was a balanced and effective tactic without being too dominant.

Despite this, it was noted by some that the original buff was not included in the patch notes, leading to speculation that it may have been unintentional. As a result, the subsequent nerf was seen as unavoidable.

The Warzone Season 4 Reloaded update is imminent, so we will have to wait and see if the developers make any further adjustments to the Crossbow or if they make changes to the overpowered Kar98k, which has been dominating matches since its arrival.
