With the release of Modern Warfare 3 on Xbox Game Pass, there has been a significant increase in cheaters in Warzone once more, causing numerous players to declare the CoD Battle Royale as “unplayable.”
After nine months had passed since Microsoft’s monumental purchase of Activision Blizzard for $68.7 billion, Call of Duty has officially become available on Xbox Game Pass. In the months leading up to the release, there were many discussions and considerations, as even Microsoft itself debated whether to include the massively popular FPS franchise in its subscription platform.
With the release of Modern Warfare 3 on July 24 and the upcoming launch of Black Ops 6 on October 25, speculation about the future of these games has been put to rest. However, despite plans being in motion, not everything is going according to plan.
With the release of Modern Warfare 3 on Xbox Game Pass, a new problem has arisen. Players on PC who access the game through the Microsoft Store are being identified as Xbox players in-game, displayed with an Xbox logo next to their name in lobbies. This incorrect identification allows cheaters on PC to disguise their cheating by appearing as Xbox players.

Many well-known content creators, such as JGOD and our sister site Charlie Intel, have recently highlighted an increase in the number of cheaters. Interestingly, a significant portion of these cheaters have the Xbox logo displayed next to their username, despite the majority of cheating incidents originating from PC.
Despite the fact that cheaters have been a problem for a while, it appears that Activision’s monitoring system, RICOCHET, is failing to detect the recent increase in troublesome players. The developers have not made any public statements regarding this issue.
As expected, numerous players who do not cheat are expressing their concerns and leaving the game in large numbers. “I encountered five cheaters in five separate games last night,”one player added on a Reddit thread discussing cheating strategies in the game. Another player agreed, stating, “It’s unacceptable.”
“This game is essentially unplayable. It’s extremely difficult to survive on the ground and nearly impossible to reach your loadout. Forget about even attempting to get it,”one player commented.
