Warzone players laugh at ‘ridiculous’ rewards offered after major server outage

Activision recently offered players compensation following major server issues that affected Warzone and MW3, but the rewards handed out are clearly not unanimous.

Like all online games, Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone can experience server issues, preventing the community from playing. That’s exactly what happened on Friday, February 23, when players were kicked from games due to a major server outage.

Both games were offline for hours, but to make matters worse, many also found that their accounts had been temporarily reset, meaning their ranks, weapon levels, and Battle Pass progress had been lost.

The issues also affected Ranked mode, with players finding themselves at Bronze 1 rank despite hours of play. Then, the servers experienced issues again on February 26, although for a much shorter period than before.

Following this, the developers of MW3 and Warzone then offered rewards to players as an apology to compensate for the lost time.

The official Call of Duty X account (formerly Twitter) announced that the Double XP event has been extended by one day, while everyone will receive a Double XP token for player level, weapons and Pass of fight.

However, the community was quick to criticize these distributed bonuses, saying that they are not enough, given the scale of the outage.

“An hour is laughable considering the game was down for about 12 hours. Might as well not give anything,” replied a user to a CharlieIntel post, before another added: “It doesn’t compensate for anything.”

Others pointed out that most players already have a stockpile of Double XP tokens, therefore believing that the developers should have chosen something more useful for compensation.

“Wow, they don’t know how to treat fans of the game, directly give away the battle pass or COD points, or give away skins,” another fan added.

While server issues are inevitable in online gaming, MW3 and Warzone players are clearly hoping not to see an outage of this magnitude happen again anytime soon.
