Warzone Players Compare Aim Assists Across Games, Praise Embark Studios’ Transparency
Following The Finals update 1.4.1, a post on Reddit details the strength of aim assist in popular titles. Useru/Willing_Ingenuity330 compared titles such as Warzone, Apex Legends and The Finals. The author of the post claims that CoD’s 60% rotational magnetism makes the aim assist too strong. And he wonders why the developers haven’t addressed this issue yet.
The Finals has just released Patch Notes detailing the current strength of their aim assist (50% rotational magnetism) and how they plan to nerf it (to 35%). COD is currently sitting at 60% rotational magnetism. byu/Willing_Ingenuity330 inCODWarzone
While debates around aim assist often involve keyboard-mouse versus controller gamers, the author of the post says the central problem is something else: “It’s no longer a question of keyboard-mouse versus controller. How can there be a skill gap between controller players if the game fights against their own physical inputs to homogenize and smooth out their actual skill?»
He then discussed the impact of 60% rotational magnetism: “The real problem is that no one misses their shots. 60% magnetism does not leave enough margin for error.” The majority of players praised The Finals developers for their transparency with update 1.4.1. The latter wish to further reduce the rotational aim assist to 35%: “Hats off to the developers of The Finals team!»
Following the praise, many players questioned CoD about its lack of change. One player stated that, much like SBMM, “the developers treat this subject with a child’s grain.”
Meanwhile, regarding Call of Duty, others had doubts about the numbers. Many have questioned the legitimacy of these statistics and percentages. A player asked: “Can I have details on the CoD numbers?”I didn’t know they ever quantified that for console or PC.”
With so much confusion and frustration surrounding aim assist, Call of Duty players seem desperate. They now hope that developers take an example from Embark Studios.
