Warzone developers have responded to some player complaints that recent changes to Precision Strike have made it completely “useless.”
While Warzone ‘s formula is the same as other Battle Royale games, namely, parachuting, gearing up, and trying to be the last team standing, it does adopt many mechanics from traditional Call of Duty multiplayer like use of killstreaks.
Players can summon drones, use the Guardian’s heat wave to slow enemies, and wipe out entire squads by calling in a Precision Strike. However, this strike sometimes caused many problems.
Over the years, fans have complained about not having enough warning when a strike targeted them. This then prompted the developers to add a new notification in Season 2, including displaying the flight path and the area affected by the explosion.
However, this change immediately sparked a reaction from players who believe that Precision Strike is now “useless” .
Warzone Devs Speak Out on Precision Strike Changes
Following these complaints, Warzone developers quickly decided to speak out on Reddit:
“The distance at which players will receive feedback on an incoming Precision Strike is <100m from the target area, allowing players to know in advance the movement of an enemy player or enemy squad. This distance is a metric we will continue to monitor based on player sentiment and internal data.
We are passionate about the design direction that Precision Strike is going. For too long, players have been hit with a Precision Strike without any prior knowledge and we’ve heard loud and clear feedback that this needs to be addressed. This feedback was also validated when we looked at our internal data which highlighted the number of player kills far beyond other killstreaks.”

The developers then noted that recent changes have made killstreaks more difficult and as a result there is now a “better balance in the killstreak ecosystem.”
It remains to be seen whether more changes will be made soon, but at least the developers continue to monitor the situation carefully.
