A recent technical glitch has led to a significant loss of Skill Rating (SR) for players engaged in Warzone Ranked Play, prompting many to demand restitution for their lost rankings.
Throughout the lifespan of Modern Warfare 3, Ranked Play was exclusively available on Resurgence maps. After a hiatus from traditional large battle royale formats, Black Ops 6 reintroduced this mode to the expansive Urzikstan map in the Season 1 Reloaded update. However, the much-anticipated launch was marred by pervasive cheating and other performance-related issues.
Activision acknowledged the shortcomings in the integration of their RICOCHET Anti-Cheat system during the introduction of Season 01, particularly highlighting its implications for Ranked Play. “We did not hit the mark,” the company admitted, revealing their commitment to improve anti-cheating measures by 2025. Yet, these enhancements won’t arrive until Seasons 2 and 3, with Season 2 scheduled to commence on January 28.
Glitches Affecting Players’ Rankings in Ranked Play
Raven Software has identified a troubling issue, stating, “We’re aware of an issue where Ranked Play matches are currently freezing at the Winner’s Circle at the end of a match and are currently investigating a fix.” Fortunately, the development team acted swiftly, rectifying the problem within an hour. However, players affected during this period still experienced losses in SR due to game freezes, further compounding their frustrations.
“So, am I going to get all my SR reimbursed that I won but lost because of this glitch?”one player voiced their concern. Another echoed the sentiment, pleading, “Give me my SR back, please.”Unfortunately, responses from Activision Support suggest that recovering lost SR may not be feasible at this time. A player shared a screenshot of a support interaction that indicated the tools currently in use do not allow for the restoration of lost ranks or items.
In Ranked Play, SR is crucial as it determines players’ standings, making each point significant. As a result, the community is left feeling disheartened, adding this latest glitch to a series of ongoing frustrations. Developers must act on feedback to restore faith in the competitive play environment.
