Manchester United icon Wayne Rooney left Gary Neville feeling perplexed when he spoke about his experiences with Girth N Turf FC, the team that has been dominating EA Sports FC 24 Pro Clubs.
With over 150 matches played together for Manchester United, Rooney and Neville have become two iconic figures of the Premier League era.
Despite a tumultuous stint as manager for Spanish club Valencia, Neville has found success as a commentator and analyst for Sky Sports following his retirement from playing.
Rooney has also served as manager at various clubs, such as DC United in the MLS, Birmingham City, and his current position at Plymouth Argyle.
Despite being 38 years old, the player has gained attention as the top signing for Girth N Turf. He has seamlessly integrated into the team of streamers and has been involved in numerous comical moments with his fellow teammates.
During the latest episode of The Overlap, Neville asked Rooney to elaborate on the topic. However, the former full-back was left puzzled and unsure of how to respond.
The topic begins at 06:00.
“When Neville asked what Girth N Turf was all about, Rooney responded by saying, “It’s crazy.”He explained that the group consisted of streamers who had formed a FIFA [EA Sports FC] team. Rooney mentioned that he knew Aitch, the rapper, who had invited him to join the team for a few games.”
“With nothing else to occupy my time, I decided to join the team. It has been a source of great amusement as people continue to subscribe and tune in to watch us play. In fact, during our last game, there were an impressive 85,000 viewers, surpassing even the number of spectators at Old Trafford [74,310].”
“When asked about how people tune in, Rooney replied, “All the lads are streamers and they make a considerable amount of money from it.”
Neville struggled to make sense of Rooney’s latest hobby as he remarked, “This world is absolutely insane, isn’t it?”
