On Thursday, May 2, 2024, Netflix Geeked’s official X account revealed that a collaboration between Roblox and the upcoming live-action One Piece series and Stranger Things has been confirmed. However, both Netflix and Roblox have yet to release any additional information about the collaboration.

Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece franchise has taken the world by storm, with both the manga and anime gaining immense popularity. As a result, Netflix decided to create a live-action adaptation of the series, which has since become a huge success. This success has now opened up opportunities for a partnership between One Piece and the popular online gaming platform, Roblox.

Netflix and Roblox team up for a One Piece live-action series collaboration

On May 2, 2024, the official X (formerly Twitter) account of Netflix Geeked shared a video preview for an upcoming collaboration between Roblox and two Netflix shows, including the highly anticipated One Piece live-action adaptation.

The preview video only featured an animated scene that resembled a scene from Stranger Things and a cartoonized version of the Going Merry ship from the upcoming One Piece live-action series.

Additionally, the video briefly mentioned a virtual gaming world called Netflix Geeked Arcade, suggesting that Roblox users may have the opportunity to participate in the collaboration through this platform. However, no further details have been disclosed at this time.

Finally, the preview video did not disclose the date for when the collaboration would occur. The video simply stated that the collaboration was a “coming soon”event.

It was unexpected, but not all fans were thrilled by the partnership announcement.

Despite the belief of many fans that Roblox was primarily a game for children, they were concerned that the series’ collaboration with the game would tarnish the anime’s reputation. As a result, many fans expressed their disapproval and stated their desire for the collaboration to not take place.

“We don’t need it. This ain’t for kids. This a grown man’s story!,”one fan exclaimed.

“The fact we got a collab on Roblox before fortnite is criminal,”another fan added.

One disappointed fan pointed out the fact that Roblox received a One Piece collaboration before Fortnite, despite the latter’s history of collaborating with popular anime such as Attack on Titan, Dragon Ball Super, My Hero Academia, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Naruto.

Despite the fact that previous collaborations had already occurred, fans were surprised to discover that Roblox was the initial company to partner with the anime live-action series.

“We want Fortnite but we’ll take what we can get,”one fan shared.

“They realized that roblox published the only good one piece game in existence,”another fan said.

Many other fans expressed their desire for Fortnite to have been given the collaboration opportunity, but they were still pleased to hear that new content from the series will be coming soon.

Another fan attempted to generate excitement for the collaboration, emphasizing that the executives of the series must have recognized that Roblox was the sole entity producing quality games for the franchise.
