What are Thorn Souls or Soul Bulbs in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex? The Key to Reviving Sasuke, Explored

The latest chapter of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, chapter 12, unveiled the concept of Thorn Soul Bulb to readers. Some fans may have mistakenly referred to the entity as “Thorn Souls”or “Soul Bulbs”due to unofficial translations, but the official name for this concept is “Thorn Soul Bulb.”

After Kawaki destroyed the remnants of Hidari’s body following Boruto’s attack with the Rasengan Uzuhiko, this entity made its first appearance. This raises the possibility that the Thorn Soul Bulb may be the central component of the God Trees, but there is still limited information about their nature. So, what exactly are these entities?

Please be advised that this article contains spoilers from the Boruto: Two Blue Vortex manga.

According to Boruto in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter 12, the Thorn Soul Bulb is a being that will aid him in rescuing his mentor Sasuke Uchiha, who has been transformed into a tree.

Despite not revealing his source, it became clear from the manga chapter that the protagonist’s informant was none other than the Jiraiya clone Kashin Koji. Kashin Koji had previously communicated with Boruto through his toad and mentioned having encountered the Thorn Soul Bulb before, considering it a highly significant entity.

At a later point, the manga showed God Tree Jura using a jutsu to retrieve Hidari’s Thorn Soul Bulb, which allowed him to attract objects towards himself. As he possesses the Rinnegan, it is likely that he used the Banshō Ten’in, also known as Universal Pull, a technique previously demonstrated by Pain in Naruto.

It is evident that the Thorn Soul Bulb holds great significance to the God Trees, as shown by Jura’s quick retrieval and suspicion towards Boruto solely based on his knowledge about it.

According to Boruto’s explanation of the Thorn Soul Bulb, it appears that this fruit-like entity serves as a repository and modifier of the chakra of the individual upon which a God Tree was modeled. In the previous chapter, Boruto and his team obtained a Thorn Soul Bulb which must have contained Sasuke Uchiha’s chakra in order for the God Tree to take on the form of Hidari.

Despite the absence of the Thorn Soul Bulb and the inability to heal the God Tree’s body, it seemed highly probable that the previous chapter could have marked the end of Hidari’s appearance for fans. However, with Jura’s retrieval of Hidari’s Thorn Soul Bulb, there is a strong possibility that the Sasuke God Tree clone will make a comeback in the upcoming chapters for fans to see.

Despite everything, the Thorn Soul Bulbs hold immense significance in both defeating a God Tree and rescuing the individual trapped within it. Therefore, it is highly likely that the manga will delve deeper into this subject in the future. Before that happens, fans may be curious about how and where Kashin Koji encountered this entity.
