RiceGum, a popular YouTuber, published a video not too long ago in which he broke the sad news that his unborn child had passed away. RiceGum, also known as Brian Quang Le, uploaded a new video on April 27 with the title “Baby Girl”; this was his first video since his last post nearly three years earlier.
Up to the 34th week of pregnancy, when RiceGum baby girl’s heartbeat stopped, the three-minute video described his experience with his fiancée Ellerie Marie’s pregnancy, including ultrasound and their happy dance. The movie ended when RiceGum baby girl’s heartbeat stopped.
Marie is a popular figure on social media thanks to the success of her vlogs and dancing videos that she posts on TikTok.
“Our world crashed down on us” – RiceGum
According to the YouTuber and his fiancée, all of the medical tests that had been conducted up to that moment had come back perfectly perfect. RiceGum wrote this at the conclusion of the video:
“At 35 weeks pregnant, our world crashed down on us when we were told our baby no longer had a heartbeat. Every genetic test, blood test came back perfect, and the reason for this tragedy will forever be unknown. Ellerie had to be induced for labor for 48 hours.”
The YouTuber continued:
“She gave birth to the most perfect angel. The cutest baby girl with soft, chubby cheeks and a tiny button nose. She looked perfect, just like she was sleeping. Only a few more weeks, and she would’ve been here with us.”
What does it mean when a baby is stillborn?
After the 20th week of pregnancy, the loss of a fetus due to natural causes is referred to as a stillbirth. Even though the reasons for stillbirth aren’t fully understood, many professionals in the medical field believe that issues with either the placenta or the umbilical cord could be to blame.
In addition to these, however, infections, high blood pressure in the mother, lifestyle choices, and even birth deformities can all be potential causes.
The various classifications of stillbirths
A stillbirth can be categorized as early, late, or term depending on when it occurs. They are based on the number of weeks that have passed since the woman became pregnant.
In cases of early and late stillbirth, the fetus passes away between the ages of 20 and 27 weeks and between the ages of 28 and 36 weeks, respectively. In cases of term stillbirth, however, the fetus passes away at 37 weeks or later.
Who is at a greater risk of having a baby that does not survive the birth process?
According to the opinions of several authorities in the field of medicine, a stillbirth is a possibility for any pregnant woman, regardless of her race or her age. On the other hand, a woman’s risk of having a stillbirth increases if she does any of the following:
- consume tobacco, alcoholic beverages, or illicit drugs.
- people who are over the age of 35 suffer from a variety of nutrient deficiencies
- have inadequate prenatal care; are overweight or obese; suffer from any other medical problem
The aforementioned video came to a close with a statement that discussed how traumatizing and disheartening the whole ordeal was, as well as how friends and family members were eagerly awaiting the arrival of Ellerie and RiceGum’s child.
“We are still in tremendous shock; our family and friends were beyond excited to welcome our baby into the world. Instead, we are in deep pain and permanently scarred. Only time has helped us through this tragedy. We could never get through this without each other.”– RiceGum
