The recent Instagram posts by PENTAGON member Hongseok have raised concerns about the events that occurred among the members.
On June 23, 2024, Hongseok hosted a Q&A session on his Instagram Stories. As he carefully responded to each question, fans inquired about his relationships with the other members of PENTAGON. However, it was his remarks regarding Yuto and Yan An that caught the attention of fans.
During a fan interaction, someone asked Hongseok if Yuto had removed him from his social media block list. In response, Hongseok confirmed that he was still unable to view his co-PENTAGON member’s profile.
In December 2023, Hongseok disclosed that Yuto had blocked all the members on social media following his departure from Korea. This occurred in October 2023, shortly after Cube Entertainment announced that he and several other members of PENTAGON had chosen not to renew their contracts with the agency. Despite this, the company clarified that PENTAGON was not disbanded at the time.
During a fan Q&A, Hongseok was asked about Yan An, the group’s sole Chinese member. Yan An has had sporadic participation in PENTAGON’s comebacks since late 2019 due to his health. In fact, he had been on hiatus for over 440 days until September 17, 2020. In 2022, he went on another hiatus and returned to China.
Cube Entertainment announced that he was among the members who had decided not to renew their contracts with the label.
Hongseok shared in his response that he desires to discuss Yan An further, but he is mindful of how the rest of PENTAGON views him. He explained that it is challenging for him to speak about Yan An, as anything he says could lead his fans to take sides.
His statement quickly raised alarms within the group’s loyal fan community. A common belief among them was that despite the members’ individual pursuits, they remained closely connected. There were even rumors that the group was regularly gathering to plan for a comeback independent of Cube Entertainment.
Despite Hongseok’s statement, there remains skepticism among Universe (PENTAGON fandom name) regarding Yan An’s potential return. The prevailing belief is that his successful career in China will likely keep him in that country. Similarly, Yuto’s solo debut in Japan has led many to believe that he will not return to South Korea.
As of now, there have been no further statements from Hongseok. Yan An and Yuto have also not spoken about the situation.
