What Happens to Tamaki Amajiki at the End of My Hero Academia? Explained

Despite the conclusion of My Hero Academia in chapter 430, there remains much speculation regarding the fate of various characters, particularly Tamaki Amajiki. As one of the third-year students at UA alongside Mirio Togata and Nejire Hado, he was part of the highly esteemed trio known as the Big 3. Fans have been eager to know the resolution of his story as a promising hero.

Despite being mentioned only briefly in chapter 430, author Kohei Horikoshi did not forget the conclusion of Mirio, Nejire, and Tamaki’s journeys in My Hero Academia. As predicted by Sir Nighteye in his final moments, Mirio Togata became the Number One Pro Hero. However, Tamaki Amajiki’s story is also a perfect reflection of his character.

This article includes spoilers for the series.

By the end of the story, Tamaki Amajiki is established as a Pro Hero and serves as Fat Gum’s assistant. He had previously assisted Fat Gum during their time at UA, and the two were partners during the Overhaul arc, alongside Eijiro Kirishima.

After graduating from UA, he immediately displayed his natural talent as a hero. This was not unexpected, as he was already recognized as one of the Big 3 of the academy alongside Mirio Togata and Nejire Hado due to their exceptional abilities and potential as heroes. It was no surprise that he successfully pursued a career in heroism.

Moreover, this decision aligns perfectly with Tamaki Amajiki’s character development as he has grappled with self-doubt throughout the majority of the series. His insecurities are magnified by his close friendship with Mirio, who exudes confidence and sociability.

Did Tamaki Engage in Battle Against All For One?

Despite not directly confronting All For One, Tamaki was still involved in the final war arc of My Hero Academia as part of the assault team against Tomura Shigaraki. Alongside Mirko, Katsuki Bakugo, Best Jeanist, Edgeshot, and Nejire, Tamaki was tasked with restraining the villain until Deku arrived. However, Shigaraki proved to be too strong and began to overpower the team in the process.

Despite unleashing some of his most lethal moves, including the Octopus Merge venom to incapacitate the villain, Tamaki’s efforts did not significantly alter the course of the battle. However, Mirio Togata’s timely arrival provided much-needed assistance and distraction for the others. Mirio even went as far as mocking Shigaraki for his lack of companions, but unfortunately, he too fell victim to Tomura’s defeat.

Despite being defeated alongside his fellow heroes, Tamaki was shocked to witness Shigaraki apparently taking over Katsuki Bakugo’s life. However, as seen in the My Hero Academia manga, Tamaki eventually returned. The most memorable moment of the battle was when Tamaki successfully executed his Plasma Cannon, causing significant harm to Tomura. In fact, the attack was so powerful that it even caused All For One to briefly take control, acknowledging that it could have been fatal for his friend, All Might. Unfortunately, despite his valiant effort, Tamaki was ultimately defeated.

Concluding Remarks

At the conclusion of My Hero Academia, Tamaki achieved the status of Pro Hero and conquered his fears and insecurities. This character growth was highlighted when he bravely used his Plasma Cannon to protect his team and took a hit from Tomura Shigaraki.
