What is Havoc Mode in Modern Warfare 3?

The popular Havoc mode from MW2 makes a comeback in Modern Warfare 3 Season 4 Reloaded, offering players a fresh multiplayer playlist to dive into.

The mid-season update’s focus on the theme of ‘mutation’ is reflected in the changes made to the TDM mode, which brings new and intriguing elements to the traditional formula.

MW3 Havoc mode explained

In Havoc, the traditional Team Deathmatch mode is given a twist by incorporating wild modifiers that alter the gameplay of every match. These can range from minor changes such as requiring players to reload after every kill, to unusual rules like reduced gravity and fallen Operators dropping sticky grenades.

At the beginning of the match, one of the modifiers is already active. As a team reaches 12, 24, 36, and 48 kills, four more modifiers will go live. After that, the focus shifts to obtaining the most kills, as the team that reaches 75 kills first will be declared the winner.

Havoc is a unique take on regular TDM.

There are a total of 14 different modifiers, but only five will be present in each game. This allows for a wide range of combinations and adds to the potential for chaotic matches. The Season 4 Reloaded blog has released all the variations, which can be seen below:

All modifiers

  • Ammo Feeder: Automatically reloads your weapon after eliminating an enemy.
  • Boots off the Ground: Refers to the state of being in low gravity.
  • Camera Shift: Switching to third-person mode.
  • In the event of a kill, Sticky Grenades will be launched as a result of the Chain Reaction ability.
  • Energized: Acquire Cranked upon eliminating enemies.
  • Equipment is replenished upon kills.
  • Eyes On: The Advanced UAV remains constantly active.
  • Gun Runner: A random gun will be received upon killing an opponent.
  • Hero Smash: A powerful landing after jumping from a high point.
  • Restricted Weaponry: Only crossbows and Molotov bolts are allowed.
  • Lucky Three: Each set of three kills will grant you a random Killstreak.
  • In one tap, headshots can kill with just a single bullet.
  • The Snapshot Killer ability allows you to automatically activate a snapshot grenade (and ping pulse) whenever you eliminate an enemy.
  • Fifth Modifier System Reroll: This allows for a complete reroll of all currently active modifiers.

Although Havoc was initially introduced in MW2, the developers have decided to reintroduce it in MW3 with a variety of new improvements to keep it exciting. Due to the numerous modifiers available that can activate at various points, it is highly improbable to encounter the exact same combination twice.

In addition, MW3 Season 4 Reloaded offers even more exciting additions such as the Reclaimer 18 Shotgun and Sledgehammer melee weapon, along with the highly-anticipated return of the Get High mode.
