What is MW3 Mutation mode?

MW3’s Season 4 Reloaded is preparing for a major otherworldly-themed update that will feature a new game mode called Mutation.

During the first in-game event, Altered Strain, this mode will make its debut. It will involve several Operators being infected with modified DNA strands. Therefore, here is everything you need to know about Mutation in MW3.

Mutation mode explained

The recently added Mutation mode pits a team of human Operators against a terrifying array of mutants in a Mosh Pit of popular game modes. At halftime, the teams will switch sides, and the match will be won by the team with the highest score.

The Humans team will consist of ordinary Operators, with options for players to choose their skins, standard loadouts, and weapon blueprints. Furthermore, there will be a substantial increase in the ammunition reserves.

The Mutants will be referred to as “DNA-altered undead.”This group will have a range of distinctive skills that can be used to incapacitate, confuse, and defeat human adversaries. They will also receive support from Mutants that are not controlled by players.

Mutants will have four classes with different benefits to pick from.

In the match, players will be able to earn a set list of Killstreaks based on their kill performance. Each time a player-controlled Zombie is killed, they will receive one Killstreak point. Additionally, for every five non-player-controlled Zombie kills, they will earn five Killstreak points.

The three Killstreaks offered in Mutation mode are the SAE (6 points), Remote Turret (7 points), and Juggernaut (15 points).

In Mutation mode, Mutants have the freedom to choose from a diverse selection of “special classes”and do not require loadouts. Each Mutant class offers three unique perks, and the available options are listed below.

  • The Mutated Leaper possesses enhanced speed, greater melee strength, and the capacity to sense nearby enemies even around corners.
  • The Radioactive Beast charges at enemies, causing them to become shellshocked. Meanwhile, it boosts the health and movement speed of allies and reveals nearby enemies on the minimap for the entire team.
  • The Contaminated Sludger is able to cause explosions over a wide area and release a powerful acid blast that inflicts damage on nearby targets. The blast also creates pools of acid that can cause harm and slow down any enemies caught in its path.
  • The Camouflaged Sneaker sprints towards its enemy, executing an electrified jump and temporarily cloaking itself, making it partly invisible.

Altered Strain event – Mutation Augmentations

In the Altered Strain event, players can obtain augmentations by gathering DNA samples from defeated enemies, which will grant additional effects for their Mutant powers.

The CoD Blog provides a list of all Mutation augmentations and their corresponding descriptions, as seen in the link https://www.callofduty.com/blog/2024/06/call-of-duty-modern-warfare-iii-warzone-wzm-season-4-reloaded-maps-modes-zombies-announcement#Mutation.

  • First Strike: Rapid cooldown on first ability used after respawn
  • Flop Shot: Diving from elevated surfaces produces a small explosion
  • Repocket: Kills with abilities have a chance to replenish your tactical ability
  • Attuned: Reduced cost to acquire the Mutant Juggernaut
