The introduction of Diablo 4 Public Test Realm before Season 4 received high praise and was crucial for the overhaul of every system in Season of Loot Reborn.
Following its successful release, Blizzard has revealed plans for a new PTR to be implemented in the game. This will give players the opportunity to confront the Infernal Hordes and test out all of the upcoming features for Season 5 before they are officially released.
What is the Public Test Realm?
Similarly to the Seasonal Realm and the Eternal Realm, the Public Test Realm in Diablo 4 is a distinct realm. It allows players to test out upcoming features with their existing characters before they are officially added to the game.
It should be noted that the features currently being tested in the PTR may or may not be included in the game in the future, depending on the community’s response.
The advantages of a PTR cannot be overstated, as it provides the community with the opportunity to test and provide feedback on upcoming changes to the game. This allows the developers to make adjustments and improvements based on the valuable input they receive.
When does the Diablo 4 Season 5 PTR start?
The Diablo 4 Season 5 PTR will run from June 25, 2024, until July 2, 2024 and will be open to players with a Battle.net account on PC.
How to Install PTR
- Access the Diablo 4 game by launching the Blizzard Battle.net App and choosing it from the available options.
- The game version drop-down menu can be found above the Play button in the selector.
- Selectand install the option ‘Public Test Realm’
- To access the PTR, simply click on the Play button and choose from the various Test Servers available.
- Generate a new test character and join the game.
If you are a PC Game Pass or Game Pass Ultimate member, you can access the PTR in the same way as other Battle Net users by accessing the Battle Net client through the Xbox App and then continuing to access the PTR through Battle Net.
Giving Feedback for Diablo 4 PTR
To share your thoughts on your experience in Diablo 4 Season 5, you have the option to utilize the in-game feedback tool or visit the Diablo 4 PTR forums on the Blizzard website. If you prefer to give feedback while actively playing, please follow these steps:
- While navigating the in-game menu, simply use the “Esc”key to exit.
- This action will open the “Report a Bug”menu.
- Choose the “In-game feedback tool”option from the dropdown menu.
- Provide your feedback without exiting the game.
How to Access the Diablo 4 PTR
Blizzard has announced that players who participate in the testing of Season 5 will have access to a variety of features that will enable them to fully experience all the new elements in Diablo 4. To ensure fairness, all PTR accounts will carry over progress in Campaign Completion, Mounts, Skill Points, Fog of War, and bonuses from the Altar of Lilith.
You will be able to try out upcoming class changes in the Public Test Realm.
Diablo 4 will be offering the following features to PTR players, as a majority of the changes will affect the endgame:
- Instantly boost your character to Level 100.
- Upon entering the PTR and arriving at Zarbinzet, there will be an NPC named ‘PTR boost’. They will only have one dialogue option, which is ‘Boost me to level 100.’
- Upon boosting, you will receive:
- All New Legendaries
- 1 new Unique for each Class
- 100 million gold
- 1,000 Obols
- Two random sets of Ancestral gear at item power 920
- Upgraded Potions
- Fully unlocked Paragon Glyphs
- Up to 10 Tempering Manuals (class specific)
- Base amount of all consumable materials
- Does not include materials for resources specifically earned for Masterworking, Scattered Prisms and Resplendent Sparks.
- Materials to enter the Pit and Nightmare Dungeons are granted.
- Completed Class system mechanics
- Note: This boost can be repeated with new characters on the PTR, and you can trade between characters as needed.
- The fog of war will be completely eliminated.
Diablo 4 Public Test Realm: What to Expect
The main concept of the Public Test Realm for Diablo 4 is to provide you with the opportunity to test upcoming features that will be implemented in the game.
Although you won’t have access to campaigns or seasonal content, you will still have the opportunity to experiment with upcoming itemization features and mechanics that the developers plan to introduce.
Furthermore, it should be noted that your characters from the Eternal Realm will likely be transferable to the PTR. However, any modifications made to them within the PTR will not be reflected in the main game.
The upcoming Season 5, titled The Eyes of the Enemy, offers a plethora of new Unique Items and Legendary Aspects. Despite the excitement, players have expressed concern that the Sorcerer class may once again be overshadowed. They are also urging Blizzard to introduce new methods of tempering to prevent the possibility of items becoming unusable.
