What is RushTok? Sororities Go Viral in Attempt to Recruit Pledges

Sororities throughout the United States are participating in TikTok’s popular ‘RushTok’ trend by sharing their viral recruitment videos, and audiences are thoroughly enjoying the entertaining and inclusive content.

As bid week for Greek life progresses, collegiate sororities have gained popularity on TikTok by showcasing their unique dance routines, in an effort to stand out and attract potential new members.

To locate these videos, simply search for “RushTok” on the platform. There, viewers can discover sororities such as Alpha Phi, Alpha Chi Omega, Kappa Delta, and others as they try to attract new members.

Pledges often go through hazing before a final decision is made to ensure they are a perfect fit for the sorority they are rushing and become part of the sisterhood.

With the approaching bidding on recruits on Sunday, August 18, the Greek life community has entirely dominated the platform with their unique form of recruitment – dancing.

Kappa Delta at the University of Georgia utilized a creative approach to attract new members to their sorority by choreographing a routine to a popular remix of Jason Aldean’s song ‘Country Girl,’ which quickly gained viral attention.

“Their TikTok, which showcased over 3M views, was captioned with “We’re on the hunt.”

The recruitment video of Alpha Chi Omega from the University of Tennessee also featured a dance performance to Beyoncé’s ‘Run the World (Girls)’.

It appeared that the sorority was endorsed by both athletic-wear brand GymShark and Prime Hydration.

Following its viral success, Logan Paul, the founder of Prime, even left a comment on their TikTok video saying, “Y’all killed it.”

Alpha Delta Phi of Georgia Southern also gained viral popularity for their rendition of ‘Swag Surfin” by Fast Life Yungstaz while swag surfing.

The audience was so enamored with their performance that numerous individuals expressed their enthusiasm for all the sorority material on ‘RushTok.’

Although ‘RushTok’ predominantly features sororities, the surge of viral recruitment videos is not the sole cause of Greek life’s popularity on TikTok.
