Charli XCX, an artist, has started a TikTok trend based on her most recent album, ‘Brat’, to start the summer off.
The trend of ‘brat Summer’ on TikTok started when British singer Charli XCX released her album ‘Brat’ on June 7.
Despite the album’s successful release, fans also eagerly embraced all of the ‘brat summer’ essentials that the musician discussed in an interview with The News Movement on TikTok.
“When asked about the trend, Charli XCX responded, stating that it could be very trashy, such as when one only needs a pack of cigarettes, a Bic lighter, and a strappy white top without a bra.”

One TikTok video that went viral featured a poster who shared a list of ‘brat summer’ activities that one could do in order to participate in the new trend.
Some of the essential tasks included: not removing your makeup before sleeping, keeping sunglasses on indoors, and trying out the color lime green even if you’ve never worn it before, as it is the featured color of Charli XCX’s latest album.
The popular TikToker known as ‘shaylaren’ shared their unique version of the trending challenge. In the video, they can be seen sporting a vibrant lime green hair color and their caption read, “Brat Summer!!!”

TikToker Erik shared their own version of a ‘brat summer’ by dancing in the middle of the street. In the accompanying video, they wrote “Southern brat summer”and used the song ‘Girl, so confusing’ by Charli XCX as background music.
