What is the College Football 25 Switch Stick and How to Use it for Intercepting Passes

Intercepting a pass in College Football 25 is not very difficult, and the addition of the switch stick feature has only added to the challenge for quarterbacks.

Playing defense in College Football 25 requires a strong mindset. Running backs and wide receivers are known for their agility and can easily evade defenders, making it a challenge to successfully tackle them in the open field. This skill demands patience and precision.

While there are a few settings that can be adjusted to assist defenders, mastering the technique of consistently stopping offenses will remain a difficult task for even the most experienced football players. Nevertheless, the addition of the switch stick feature has shifted the balance in favor of defenders once again.

To successfully intercept a pass in College Football 25, you need to press the triangle button on PlayStation or the Y button on Xbox while controlling the defender nearest to the pass.

Using the new switch stick feature, players have the ability to switch to the defender nearest to the incoming pass. By flicking the right stick towards the direction of the pass, a different defender will be selected, providing an opportunity to make a play on the ball.

By pressing in on the left stick and either O on the PlayStation or B on the Xbox, players can switch directionally when controlling defensive linemen.

Typically, using the right stick is the way to execute a hit stick on defense, as stated by EA in their explanation, “After the quarterback has released the ball or passed the line of scrimmage, the right stick reverts back to functioning as the hit stick.”

When attempting to switch to a different defender and pressing Y or triangle before the pass is thrown, there is no guarantee of making an interception. This is because using the switch stick carries the risk of switching too early or too late, which could lead to the receiver making an easy catch and potentially scoring.

We suggest familiarizing yourself with the switch stick, as it will be useful when defending during a play.
