Airplane passengers have recently gained popularity on social media for engaging in a trend known as “raw-dogging”during their flights. But what exactly does this viral TikTok trend entail?
Travelers often experience fatigue during flights, whether it’s due to the boarding process, preparing for the trip, or the general anxiety of flying. Passengers are faced with numerous details and duties to manage.
Luckily, airplanes offer passengers the opportunity to enjoy movies, music, food, and beverages, making the time spent flying more enjoyable.
Some passengers, however, choose to “raw-dog”their flight, forgoing the use of any of the plane’s amenities for the entire duration of their journey, no matter how lengthy it may be.
Passengers who have engaged in the practice of “raw-dogging”a flight have also shared their individual experiences on TikTok.
TikToker ‘oiwudini’ gained popularity on the platform when he shared that he had gone seven hours without headphones, a movie, water, or food, stating that it was his “personal record.”

TikToker user Jonny Davies also recounted his experience of taking an eleven-hour flight without a condom. Like the previous individual, he also considered it to be his “personal best”and mentioned that he spent the entire flight looking at the flight map.

Another TikToker, Lukey, also joined in on the trend by sharing their own version. In their video, they recreated their dad’s habit of flying without any protection.

Lukey shared a video of himself placing a pillow around his neck with a text overlay saying, “POV: my dad preparing to endure an 8-hour flight without any protection.”
Observers of the popular TikTok craze responded by playfully mocking the idea that one’s memories are sufficient to reminisce on during air travel.
One audience member went as far as to challenge the TikTokers to stow their phones in their checked luggage, in order to intensify the discomfort of experiencing the raw-dog.
Another popular trend on TikTok in the aerospace industry is not limited to raw-dogging flights. In March, a flight attendant gained viral attention for sharing their practice of greeting all passengers as they board the aircraft, in order to assess their ability to assist in case of an emergency.
Just a few months earlier, another flight attendant gained viral attention for calling out the most “evil”passenger behaviors, specifically noting that placing any type of liquid in the overhead bin is considered the worst offense on a plane.
