What is this matchup – Dragon Ball fans shocked that Boruto vs Gohan powerscaling is even a question

Despite not being the central character in Akira Toriyama’s series, Gohan remains a highly significant and unquestionably beloved character, leading to numerous clashes between the Dragon Ball and Boruto fandoms as they debate the superiority of their respective protagonists.

Similarly to Gohan, the son of Naruto is the main character in his series and is highly regarded as the most powerful among the new generation of shonen teenagers by many fans. As a result, there have been ongoing disputes between the two fanbases, with the Dragon Ball fandom often emerging victorious due to the outlandish nature of their world.

Please note that this article contains spoilers for both the Dragon Ball and Blue Vortex series.

Boruto Fans Argue for Boruto’s Supremacy over Dragon Ball’s Gohan

Despite the Cell Saga airing during the early days of Dragon Ball Z, Gohan has remained a significant topic in power-scaling discussions. Throughout Akira Toriyama’s series, Gohan’s destructive power, speed, battle experience, and potential have been firmly established, yet some Boruto fans continue to debate whether their protagonist could match his abilities.

Despite the fact that the power level in Akira Toriyama’s series is significantly higher than that of other shonen anime, fans of Dragon Ball wasted no time in questioning the purpose of the original post, stating how this matchup was simply too ridiculous.

Fan reactions to the matchup

Despite its absurdity, numerous fans pointed out that this matchup could not be taken seriously as a proper contest. Others even accused the post of being an engagement farming tactic, claiming that Gohan’s Super Saiyan transformation alone would be enough to defeat Naruto’s successor series.

“Bait for engagement farming, Gohan slams Otsutsuki lite in SSJ1,”one fan mentioned.

“Setting the Boruto fandom up😭😭,”another fan said.

Some fans also used the discussion as a chance to debate power scaling, arguing that Gohan would emerge unharmed and relatively unscathed even after facing a barrage of attacks from Naruto’s son. Additionally, there were those who raised concerns about the terminology of the matchup, as it sought to pit two of the most powerful teenagers in shonen against each other, despite Gohan being only 9-11 years old during what is considered his “prime”period.

“Unfazed Gohan emerging from the smoke after Boruto throws everything in his arsenal at him,”one fan said.

“PRIME Gohan is turning that dude into a fine red mist with a basic ki blast,”another fan mentioned.

“Technically Gohan is 9 here.”Another fan said.

Despite the challenges in accurately comparing the power scaling between these two series due to their vastly different power systems and overall scales, it is important to acknowledge that Akira Toriyama’s series boasts a significantly higher power level and overall scale than any other shonen anime.
