What to Expect from Overwatch 2 Season 12 Battle Pass: Theme and Potential Skins

What to Expect from Overwatch 2 Season 12 Battle Pass: Theme and Potential Skins

On August 20, Overwatch 2 Season 12 will be released, bringing a new Battle Pass filled with skins and cosmetics to earn through gameplay.

The recent update introduces the highly anticipated Hero Juno, with fans also eagerly anticipating further crossovers to come after the successful Transformers collaboration in Season 11. However, the community’s main curiosity lies in the theme for this season and which Hero will receive the coveted Mythic skin.

We currently have all the information available on the Overwatch 2 Season 12 Battle Pass, including its theme and the rumored skins that will be available.

Overwatch 2 Season 12 Battle Pass Theme

The first teaser trailer, released on August 8, confirmed that the theme of Season 12 is ‘New Frontiers.’ This title, combined with the introduction of new Hero Juno from a Mars colony, suggests that the upcoming Battle Pass will have a sci-fi or space-based theme.

Despite the focus on Juno in the clip, no skins were revealed, suggesting that the BP may feature a distinct aesthetic.

Blizzard has announced that they have plans for both a witch-themed and an Egyptian-themed season in the future, although neither of these would be appropriate for the title of New Frontiers.

The initial complete trailer is scheduled to debut on August 14, and we will update this page with additional information as it becomes available.

Mythic Skin Rumors

While there have been no announcements for Battle Pass skins in Overwatch 2 Season 12, it is likely that one of the Tank Heroes will receive a Mythic skin. This speculation is supported by the pattern of previous seasons, as the last Tank Mythic skin was released for Orisa in Season 8, while Seasons 9, 10, and 11 featured Mythic skins for Moira, Mercy, and Ashe.

If this were to be true, it is highly improbable that the Tanks who have already received Mythics since the launch of OW2 will be chosen again, eliminating options such as Orisa, Junker Queen, and Sigma. Therefore, any of the remaining characters in the same category could potentially be the primary reward this time, potentially including popular choices like Reinhardt and Roadhog.

Overwatch 2 Season 12 Battle Pass Price

The price for the Overwatch 2 Season 12 Battle Pass will be 1,000 OW Coins ($9.99/£8.39). With this purchase, you will receive all 80 items included in the BP, as long as you earn enough XP before Season 13 begins.

In addition, a Premium option will be available for 2,200 OW Coins ($20/£16.79), which includes 20 complimentary Tier Skips and a 20% XP increase that remains valid for the rest of the season.

If you are not interested in buying either version, there is an option to access a free track. However, only a few rewards will be accessible without payment. Purchasing either the standard or Premium version at any time during Season 12 will grant automatic access to all rewards up to your current level.

This allows you to test the new season and gauge your progress before fully committing, as you may ultimately decide that you do not want to miss out on the skins and other cosmetics.

The upcoming release of Season 12 for Overwatch 2 is anticipated to significantly increase the game’s number of players. Therefore, it is important to have the best PC settings and strategies for countering each Tank Hero in preparation.
