Fans were captivated by the suspense of Demon Slayer season 4 episode 7. This installment stood out with its extended duration of over 30 minutes, providing ample content for viewers to savor.

Despite not having read the manga, many fans were curious about Zenitsu’s abrupt change in demeanor after receiving a certain letter. They could observe him sitting on a rock, clutching the letter and unwilling to engage in a conversation with Tanjiro.

Whatever was written in that letter appeared to have provided Zenitsu with a newfound sense of purpose. So, what exactly did the letter contain for Zenitsu?

Warning: This article contains major spoilers from the manga chapters.

Update on Zenitsu’s Master – Jigoro Kuwajima

The letter’s contents remained unknown until the battle against Kaigaku, the recently promoted Upper Moon 6 demon.

Kaigaku was Jigoro’s upperclassman at the dojo. After being overpowered by Kokushibo in a fight, Kaigaku was faced with two options – death or becoming a demon. Ultimately, he chose to become a demon and was later confronted by Zenitsu. It was during this confrontation that the letter’s contents were finally revealed.

Ever since Kaigaku received training in the Thunder Breathing Technique from Jigoro, the latter committed suicide as a way to make amends for his wrongdoings. As a result, his teachings were now within reach of an Upper Moon demon, who had the potential to cause harm to others.

The letter reported that Jigoro Kuwajima had died by performing Seppuku, a ritual suicide involving self-disembowelment using a Tanto or small sword. This method involves making a deep cut to the abdomen, resulting in a highly agonizing death.

Typically, Seppuku involves a swordsman decapitating the individual to grant them a merciful death. However, Jigoro was alone when he chose to end his life, resulting in a prolonged and agonizing death until his final breath, for which Kaigaku was accountable.

Zenitsu’s fury and agitation were on full display in episode 7 of Demon Slayer season 4 as he read the letter, causing concern for Tanjiro. Despite this, Zenitsu not only faced Kaigaku head-on, but also battled with full consciousness.

The battle against the recently emerged Upper Moon 6 is undoubtedly one of the most thrilling encounters in the series. This is due to Zenitsu’s solo defeat of an Upper Moon demon and his incredible display of a self-invented Thunder Breathing technique.

The seventh episode of Demon Slayer’s fourth season effectively portrayed Zenitsu’s annoyance and exasperation in the anime. Zenitsu was known to be talkative, so his current state caused concern not only among his fellow characters but also among fans of the show.

Keep an eye out for additional anime and manga updates as the year 2024 continues.
