What You Get for Your Preorder of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom So Far

What You Get for Your Preorder of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom So Far

A common practice for new video games is to include a tangible collectible with the preorder as an incentive for purchasing the physical copy. The Legend of Zelda: Sorrow of the Kingdom is the same as its predecessors. When the game launches in May, players will be able to purchase a variety of distinctive and intriguing items from a variety of stores.
This guide is not limited to the United States; however, the best incentives are restricted to specific countries. Unfortunately, United States residents can only presently receive a single unique Tears of the Kingdom preorder bonus, so the majority of this guide covers items from other countries that American fans would have to import in order to obtain.

Current as of April 10, 2023: Two additional retailers have been added to our The Legend of Zelda: Sorrow of the Kingdom preorder bonuses guide. Walmart and Best Buy have announced additional freebies for Zelda aficionados; see the post for details.

GameStop

Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Free Gift Wooden Plaque Gamestop Exclusive

Since Tears of the Kingdom was mistakenly discounted to $60 for a period of time at Gamestop, a large number of people pre-ordered it. After the release of the gameplay trailer, those who preordered the game from this American retailer will receive a beautiful Wooden Plaque with the Ultra Hand symbol.

This plaque is a cool reward, but it’s not particularly useful or valuable; Zelda aficionados can display it on their walls if they wish. Unfortunately for Americans, there are only two other stores that offer distinctive rewards; it appears that no other stores offer anything special to launch-day players in the United States.

Best Buy

Fans of Tears of the Kingdom who preorder at Best Buy will have this item automatically added to their shopping cart. A print that will presumably be slightly smaller than a Nintendo Switch game case, but still appears to be of high quality.

This display piece is more practical than the other two available to Zelda aficionados in the United States, as it can be framed and hung on the wall. It is also still available for preorders of the game’s physical editions, even if they were placed before the art print was announced.

Walmart

Walmart provides a distinctive wall scroll to Zelda fans who preorder the game. This is a fairly unique preorder bonus and beautiful wall art for any Tears of the Kingdom fan to hang at home.

Unfortunately, this item is already entirely sold out and unavailable to anyone eager to acquire it. There may be hope for a future restock, but for the time being, the wall scroll remains unavailable, leaving gamers in the United States with only the GameStop plaque and the Best Buy art print to choose from.

Canadian Bonuses

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Pin Set Luggage Tag Walmart GameStop Canada pre-order bonuses

Fans of Tears of the Kingdom in Canada will receive either a Pin Set or a Luggage Tag from GameStop or Walmart, respectively. The Pin Set is a standard GameStop incentive in the United States for Metroid Dread and Kirby and the Unwound Future, so it is puzzling that only Canada receives one.

The luggage tag is more distinctive; it is quite practical and ideal for Zelda aficionados who enjoy traveling. Even if one already has a generic luggage tag, it is never a terrible idea to subtly represent a beloved franchise, even on a suitcase.

Amazon Japan Bonuses

In lieu of conventional rewards, Japan obtains a peculiar Silverware set. So, while Link eats with his bare hands, Tears of the Kingdom players may use a Zelda-themed Spoon and Fork for any meal. They are a lovely set of cooking utensils that should be suitable for any kitchen.

Israel Nintendo Store Bonuses

Tears of the Kingdom shirts and coins israel bonus

The Nintendo online store in Israel offers three shirt sizes and a commemorative coin in three sizes. Obviously, players can only obtain one or the other, but the free shirt seems more valuable and is a significant enhancement over the typical green shirt with a Triforce emblem.

Players of Tears of the Kingdom shouldn’t overlook the coin, which has an intricate design and may be quite valuable due to its relatively limited release in Israel and a few other countries. However, the blouse appears to be the more popular item.

Europe Nintendo Store Bonuses

Europe (specifically the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, and Italy) will receive the Collector’s coin and luggage badge previously mentioned. This naturally raises the question of why the previous bundle did not include the shirt and the coin, but this bundle is still a great bargain.

World of Games, Switzerland

Fans of Tears of the Kingdom in Switzerland who wish to receive a complimentary notebook should consider preordering their copy at World of Games. A pleasant bonus for any fan is that the store’s design is incredibly sleek and entirely exclusive.

Korea, Gamewoori

Tears of the kingdom korean puzzle bonus

While conventional logic would predict that Japan or the United States would receive the most preorder incentives for Tears of the Kingdom, Korea received the most bonus items. The first giveaway is from Gamewoori, who is giving away a complete Tears of the Kingdom jigsaw puzzle.

Given the large number of white pieces in the midsection, this puzzle appears to be arduous to solve. This may ruin it for some, but it is still a fun bonus when looking at the artwork without contemplating the puzzle.

Korea, SSG

Korean supporters who preorder Tears of the Kingdom from SSG will receive a towel and two key rings. The towel appears to be the more entertaining and distinctive option, but decent-looking key chains are never a bad choice.

Overall, SSG offers a pleasant assortment of unique and generally excellent options; both appear to be of adequate quality. The towel might not survive several washes, but it would still look great alongside the pins. The Triforce design is acceptable, but the Master Sword pendant is incredible.

Korea, Kakao

Kakao has gamers playing on PC and Switch covered with an attractive desk mat; this mat appears to be sufficiently large to encompass the majority of desks. This is especially beneficial for avid PC users who are also Zelda fans.

This one looks a little shoddy, particularly with the Nintendo Switch watermark still present in the upper left corner. However, the remainder of the print appears to be of superior quality, and the image of Link gazing upwards is as beautiful as ever. Regardless, a worthwhile and beneficial incentive for PC users.

Korea, Toys “R”Us

Toys “R” Us is still offering two preorder incentives for Tears of the Kingdom in Korea. One is a coaster to prevent vessels from leaving unsightly rings on the table, while the other is a blanket with an awesome-looking Master Sword design.

The blanket appears superior to the other option. The coaster has a more generic Zelda design, while the blanket has a design specific to Tears of the Kingdom. Both of these are valuable rewards that Zelda aficionados will appreciate regardless.

Korea, TMON

The rewards for preordering this game are becoming increasingly bizarre, and TMON is the apex of this trend. While the first incentive for ordering the Standard Edition is a relatively ordinary tote bag, the Collector’s Edition bonus is a very peculiar Passport.

The Legend of Zelda: Sorrow of the Kingdom will be available for the Nintendo Switch on May 12.
