The Great Pagoda in Black Myth: Wukong requires a significant amount of effort to reach, yet its purpose remains unknown to players.

The game Black Myth: Wukong features many incredible and enigmatic locations. As you explore, you may encounter seemingly insignificant doors and rooms, but completing hidden side quests can reveal valuable items or even unlock entirely new areas.

The Great Pagoda, found in the third chapter of the game, The New West, is causing confusion among players. Despite requiring a lot of effort to reach, the area appears empty upon discovery, leaving players wondering about its purpose.

Does The Great Pagoda Serve a Purpose?

Currently, we are uncertain about the true intention behind The Great Pagoda, however, its excessive level of detail suggests that it is not entirely superfluous.

The Great Pagoda is one of the places of interest in the game.

Despite this, it is important to keep in mind that the room contains its own personal Shrine. The walls in the room also function as murals that are completed with each chapter. Furthermore, there is an NPC who will discuss it, specifically mentioning a friend of Sun Wukong who desired peace and was ultimately sent to The Great Pagoda.

Once a certain point is reached in the game, the circular section at the center of the temple begins to emit a fiery glow. Although the community is still seeking answers, it is speculated that this area will play a significant role in the final stages of the game. It is said that upon completing all the chapters and filling all the walls with paintings, the area will unlock an ending.

To successfully fill the walls, it is necessary to finish all the chapters and gather relics.

Directions to The Great Pagoda

Despite its unclear purpose, reaching The Great Pagoda can be a challenging journey. However, here is a guide on how you can explore this area for yourself.

Step 1: Reach Mirrormare Shrine

The Mirrormare Shrine is your first step in Black Myth: Wukong.

After exploring the first part of the snow-covered region known as The New West, you will come across an NPC who can transform you into a bird. They will then guide you through the mountains, eventually leading you to the Mirrormare Shrine.

Upon arrival, get ready by preparing your gear, upgrading your flasks, and gearing up for battle.

Step 2: Defeat Kang-Jin Loong

Kang-Jin Loong is a dragon in Black Myth: Wukong.

Upon reaching the Mirrormare Shrine, a vast frozen lake will come into view. Proceed to walk towards the center of the lake, in front of the Shaolin gates, and a cutscene will initiate. A monk will emerge, followed by the appearance of the boss, Kang-Jin Loong. This is the white dragon that has been featured in the trailers.

Despite the daunting appearance of the dragon, the battle itself is straightforward. The only difficulty lies in the boss’s tendency to fly up, which can interrupt your combos. However, whenever the boss descends, you can effectively immobilize it and inflict significant damage.

Successfully executing a Resolute Counterflow or Light Attack combination will cause Kang-Jin Loong to collapse, providing a significant opportunity to inflict significant damage. The only concern is avoiding its Lightning attacks, which can occur when the boss strikes the ground with its hands or tail, or when it grabs and unleashes a powerful Lightning charge.

Once it reaches 50% of its HP, the boss will fly into the air and unleash a relentless storm of Lightning strikes. You can evade these attacks and patiently wait for it to descend before continuing to attack.

Despite defeating the boss, you end up falling into the lake and find yourself unexpectedly transported to a different location – the Pagoda Realm.

Step 3: Explore Lower Pagoda

The Lower Pagoda is a dangerous place in the game.

Upon arrival at the Pagoda Realm through teleportation, the initial Shrine that comes into view is the Lower Pagoda. This realm is not simply a new area, but rather a threat. In the center, there is a colossal, rotating structure, surrounded by narrow pathways.

Upon first discovering your situation, you realize that you are trapped within a prison that can be escaped. However, there are numerous prison cells surrounding you. Despite this, the true obstacles are not the cells themselves or the presence of enemies.

While exploring the Pagoda Realm, you may notice your character suddenly starts screaming and the screen begins to glow white. Once the screaming subsides, both your character and the enemies will have red eyes. Furthermore, a previously unseen type of enemy will become visible when this glowing effect is triggered.

As the music intensifies, the structure in the center begins to rotate rapidly. The latest enemy proves to be quite bothersome, resembling searchlights with three bulbs suspended from their heads. These searchlights have the ability to track your movements, even when utilizing the Cloud Step technique.

During the final magic trick, your health will be halved when this mechanic activates, so caution is advised. Fortunately, this mechanic is not permanent and will disappear after a period of time before reappearing. This allows for a brief window where you can efficiently handle tasks without encountering the searchlight enemies.

Once you have had a chance to explore, you will likely come across a set of stairs. Simply climb these stairs to reach the second floor.

Step 4: Upper Pagoda

The Upper Pagoda is as dangerous as the Lower Pagoda.

The level of difficulty and mechanics in Upper Pagoda are similar to those in Lower Pagoda. However, it is important to be cautious as there are bat-like creatures that can unexpectedly jump at you and potentially push you off the narrow pathways.

Furthermore, the upper floor also features narrow wooden bridges with an archer stationed on the other side who will attack you with arrows. However, you have the option to either quickly navigate through the bridges or utilize the Cloud Step to move faster. This same mechanic from the Lower Pagoda carries over, but by now you should be well adapted to it.

Gradually, you will come across stairs that ascend, and these must be climbed in order to arrive at the Mani Wheel Shrine.

Step 5: Defeat Captain Wise-Voice

Captain Wise-Voice is a pretty troublesome enemy in the game.

Upon reaching the Mani Wheel Shrine, you will find yourself at the summit of the Pagoda Realm. Proceed forward and step into the spinning edifice to encounter the next boss, Captain Wise-Voice. While this boss is relatively simple, they are much more vexatious than Kang-Jin Loong.

The boss, known as Captain Wise-Voice, has a horse-like body and a circular metallic head. Upon locking onto the boss, you will observe that it consistently aims towards its feet. This is a crucial aspect of the fight, requiring players to strike its toe until it falls. However, these hits do not inflict significant damage.

Once the boss is defeated, its vulnerable spot is revealed – its metallic head. Attack its head to inflict significant damage until it regains its footing. Continue this pattern until it is defeated.

Despite its seemingly straightforward nature, the task is far from simple. This is due to the boss being equipped with powerful Lightning attacks, such as a heavy foot stomp, intermittent storms of Lightning strikes, and a formidable Lightning beam.

Furthermore, the Pagoda Realm mechanic also triggers in this location. Captain Wise-Voice will periodically let out a piercing scream and its head will radiate a bright white light. As a result, you will observe your HP being halved.

Once the boss has depleted 60% of its health, it will become invulnerable and begin a laser display. You will then observe circular and criss-cross designs appearing on the ground. This indicates a nuclear strike, which will first glow yellow before detonating in a red explosion.

There is no hiding spot available, but you can still evade the danger. Among the different designs on the ground, you will find occasional neutral spaces. Take refuge in these zones and wait for the nuke to pass. After it does, you can resume attacking the boss.

Step 6: Reaching the Snow-Veiled Trail

Snow-Veiled Trail is the final location before your destination.

After the demise of Captain Wise-Voice, it is once again time to embark on a new journey. The chaos caused by the Pagoda has come to an end, and you find yourself back in the open world. The upcoming path seems relatively uneventful, with only a handful of enemies that pose little challenge.

Keep exploring until you encounter a large set of stairs. Ascend the stairs and you will arrive at the Snow-Veiled Trail Shrine.

Step 7: The Great Pagoda

The Great Pagoda is a pretty mysterious location.

Starting from the Snow-Veiled Trail, continue straight and cross the snow-covered wooden bridge. After crossing the bridge, turn left and continue straight until you come across a large field covered in snow.

When you first enter the field, you will immediately see an interact point above a gigantic door that is obscured by clouds and snow on the opposite side. By interacting with this door, you will gain entry to The Grand Pagoda.

By visiting the Shrine located within the temple, you will be able to teleport to this location in the future. Although its purpose remains unknown, you may observe the left wall glowing, possibly indicating the completion of a chapter.
