When does Modern Warfare 3 Ranked mode start?

A Ranked mode – or Ranked in English – will soon be integrated into Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Here’s everything you need to know.

Modern Warfare 3 will soon incorporate a competitive ranked play mode, giving players the chance to climb the ranks and earn rewards along the way. Since its introduction in Modern Warfare 2 Season 2, this mode has been very popular and it is therefore not surprising that it makes its return in the new opus.

Ranked play allows players to play like the pros with a limited selection of maps, weapons, and specific rules to maintain as balanced a competitive experience as possible.

When will MW3 Ranked mode be released?

The arrival of Modern Warfare 3 Ranked mode has been confirmed for Wednesday, January 17, 2024, with the Reloaded update of Season 1.

However, it was later announced that this mode will ultimately not be available immediately after the mid-season update, as “the team is carrying out checks before activating the mode for all players.”

The developers have not specified how long players will have to wait before being able to access the competitive mode, but it will likely go live within a few hours of the start of Update Reloaded.

Ranked mode was initially revealed during the Call of Duty Next event that Treyarch and Sledgehammer Games studios will be responsible for this Ranked mode. Greg Reisdorf, Multiplayer Creative Director at Sledgehammer, gave more details on the ambitions of Ranked mode: “We are going to update it, modernize it from its Modern Warfare 2 version, to take it further.”

While no details have been shared on how ranked play will work, we expect the mode to continue to encourage players to climb the Divisions to earn prestigious rewards.

MW3 rated play requires players to follow Call of Duty League (CDL) rules and restrictions. If you’re unfamiliar with the CDL format, it involves players playing Search and Destroy, Checkpoint, and Control matches in a 4v4 format with specific weapon restrictions.
