Capture the Flag mode is an iconic Call of Duty mode that wasn’t seen in the recent Sledgehammer Games-led release of Modern Warfare 3, but is it on the way? Here’s everything we know.
Capture the Flag is a mode in Call of Duty, present throughout the franchise and even in other FPS games.
The gameplay is simple: two teams attempt to steal the other’s flag while protecting their own.
Modern Warfare 3 is the latest edition of the franchise and is already in its second season of content, and yet this mode has yet to be added to the rotation.
So will CTF mode make an appearance in MW3 at some point? Here’s everything you need to know.
Will Capture the Flag make it into MW3?
Sledgehammer Games has hinted that Capture the Flag will make an appearance in MW3 but has not officially confirmed it. The developer responded to a Reddit post about which modes and operators players want to see again, leaving an eye emoji in regards to CTF, signaling players to stay tuned.
Capture the Flag mode is extremely popular among Call of Duty fans.
This doesn’t mean the mode will arrive anytime soon, however. However, the developer now knows what players are looking for in MW3 and could start working on it.
Capture the Flag was a fundamental mode of Call of Duty until MW3, appearing at launch, in Ranked mode or as a season exclusive.
In Season 2 Reloaded, players were introduced to two entirely new game modes of Sledgehammer: Prime and Juggermosh. Prime is a variant of TDM while Juggermosh is part of the Warhammer 40K crossover.
The developer seems keen to create new types of modes for players to master before the end of the season. So, it’s possible that players will see other new modes before CTF returns to the rotation, or perhaps with a variation of this mode.
