Sunye is a former Wonder Girls and Mamadol member, and one of K-pop’s known role models. However, after the groups’ disbandment, fans are currently wondering about the status of the “Tell Me”singer.
Sunye’s Venture With Wonder Girls, Solo Endeavors, More!
Min Sun Ye, or simply known as Sunye, was born on August 12, 1989, in Seoul. During JYP Entertainment’s “99% Challenge”project, Sunye was scouted in 2001 and trained under the agency for approximately six years.
Sunye eventually made it on the final lineup of Wonder Girls, one of K-pop’s era-defining girl groups to ever exist. The girl group debuted on February 13, 2007, with their debut single “The Wonder Begins,”and its title track “Irony.”
Apart from making it to the group, Sunye was also selected as the leader. Initially a five-membered female act, Wonder Girls became four members when Hyuna left in July 2007 due to health concerns, and was replaced by former member Yubin.
Wonder Girls then followed up numerous best-selling releases such as “The Wonder Years,””The Wonder Years – Trilogy,””Wonder World,”and more. They were also known for their iconic hits such as “Nobody,””So Hot,”and “Tell Me.”
However, on January 26, 2017, JYP Entertainment released an official statement announcing Wonder Girls’ disbandment due to contract expiration and the members’ decision not to renew.
Following this, all members went their separate ways including Sunye, who chose to pursue her solo endeavors and her inclusion in project girl group Mamadol on January 28, 2022. Shortly on February 4, the girl group disbanded after the final airing of tvN’s “Mama The Idol.”
On February 17, 2022, Sunye signed an exclusive contract with BlockBerry Creative, where she housed with past labelmate LOONA. Sunye expressed her enthusiasm on joining BlockBerry Creative and looked forward on giving the best releases to fans.
Sunye commented:
“I’m so happy to be signing in with BlockBerry Creative, where the make the enjoyable value of music ever present. As someone who trusts in music’s positive power, I want to send comfort and strength to everyone with good songs. Please look forward to it.”

On June 29, the former Wonder Girls and Mamadol member released her newest single titled “That’s Me.”Furthermore, the song was featured on the soundtrack of “Girl, Lamp, Radio,”a VR film.
Afterwards, on the same day (June 29), Sunye openly shared that her contract with BlockBerry Creative has now expired and added that she decided not to renew her contract.
Moreover, Sunye remarked that she will now proceed to continue her activities without an agency.
Sunye announced:
“My exclusive contract with BlockBerry Creative has expired lately, and I decided not to renew it. For now, I’m planning to go along with my activities without a label.”
