Hwang Chan-sung, the multifaceted star known for his role in the popular boy band 2PM and as an actor, made an appearance on the MBC variety program “Homemade! Homes,” marking his return after quite some time. When comedian Yang Se-chan inquired, “It’s been ages since you were last on; I’ve heard significant changes have happened,” Hwang confirmed, “That’s correct. My last visit was in 2021, which means it’s been three years. In that period, I tied the knot and relocated to a new home.”
In December 2021, Hwang Chan-sung shared the joyous news of his marriage and impending fatherhood, delighting fans after a five-year courtship with a non-celebrity who is eight years his senior. His excitement as a new parent grew when he welcomed his first daughter in July 2022.
Throughout the show, discussions about Hwang Chan-sung’s married life emerged. When Yang Se-chan asked, “Do you have a personal space in your new home?” Hwang replied, “Yes, I have a study,” which seemed to astonish his fellow guest. Jang Dong-min humorously remarked, “You have a study? Even after getting married?” which drew laughter from the audience. Park Na-rae then queried, “What does a study mean for a married guy?” to which Jang Dong-min humorously added, “I have a study too, but it’s just a reading nook in the bathroom…” prompting the studio to erupt with laughter.
When Hwang Chan-sung announced his marriage, he took to Instagram to share the story behind it. He expressed, “There’s someone I’ve been in a relationship with for a long time. This individual has been my emotional anchor and has become both my confidant and partner. After finishing my military service, I started planning for our wedding, and unexpectedly, we received the wonderful news of a baby coming sooner than expected. I’m considering an early wedding next year (2022). Although it’s still early in the pregnancy, I wanted to share this with you.”
Meanwhile, the iconic Korean sitcom “High Kick!” , which debuted in 2006, helped launch Hwang Chan-sung’s acting career. He took on a notable role as Chansung, a defiant high school student initially rivaling Yunho (played by Jung Il Woo) before becoming his best friend. Focused solely on Yunho, Chansung often spent time with Kim Bum and Yoo Mi, hanging out at the Lee family’s home.
After gaining recognition from “High Kick!” , Chansung shifted his focus more towards his music career as a key member of 2PM. Since 2011, he has successfully balanced his roles in acting and music, with his most recent appearance in the mystery drama “Show Window: The Queen’s House.”
Now embracing fatherhood after his marriage, Hwang Chan-sung is actively sharing his family experiences across broadcasts and social media, enjoying a wave of support from his dedicated fans.
